Auto lock not activating at 10mph

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2.0 TDI SEL Combi. For the last few days the auto lock doesn’t deploy appropriately when in motion. Around 10mph it clicks quietly and the central locking orange light does not come on. When I drop below 10mph it clicks again. It will do this repeatedly on urban trips, and fails to lock the doors from the outset. The click is much quieter than the normal click, so it sounds as if it is triggering but failing to lock. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there are hacks to fix this or do I have to go to a dealer?

Anyone?

Does the buttton (the one below the infotainment screen) lock the doors when you press it? And to the doors lock with the keys?

Assuming they do, then it must be a s/ware glitch. Maybe use the settings to turn off auto lock for a couple of trips then re-enable it. See if that makes a difference.

Never experienced it in any car with the feature so I’m in the dark too.

Thanks for the response. Curiously following another OTA software update it’s been working fine. Of course, it may just be a coincidence.

Yep, had something similar happen recently. Was a rear door lock actuator that had failed. All the other doors would lock ok except one so every time the speed went past the limit it would try and lock again. Also meant locking when leaving the car had to be done manually using the child lock. Replaced the door lock mechanism and was fine after that.
