Can someone check my potential ICE before I buy it!!!

Featured Replies

Hiya, I've scanned the threads and asked a few questions, and I think I'm ready to go ahead an order my new ICE for my Octavia vRS Mk1

I hoped someone could quickly check my potential purchases to make sure I have got everything I need, I want to be able to do it all next weekend.

No fascia adaptor needed but you will need an aerial adaptor to supply power to the built in aerial amplifier.

You may also have problems getting the pioneers in place without them interfereing with the door. The space in the octy is *very* shallow.

Oh , and you have forgotten to spec up a big amplifier and subwoofer ;)

If I were you I wouldn't bother with the rear speakers & just spend the budget on some 1/2 decent comps up front. You'd need to amp them, but something OK can be bought 2nd hand on ebay for around 30-40 quid.

Also, CAC's customer service/ care is awful IME.

How about sound deadening?

I've used 2 layer of flashing tape and 1 of bodyline on the outer skin. Then 4 layer on the back of the silver panel on the doors. Makes a big difference I thought to the midrange.

Just got a couple of rattle to sort out now in the doors.

nice unit m8!:D

Pioneer TSGs are (or used to be) the bottom of their range. If you have to have Pioneers, look at the TSE range. i.e. double your budget for the speakers.

If you have to have co-axials, you can do far, far better. Though ultimately, the better co-axial systems are more like components.

Spending

I would say forget about the rear and spend it all on the front. Then spend some money on sound deadening the doors if your up for it if not maybe try and amp.......to power a sub of course :D

Yeah, to be honest, if you don't want to spend a lot on speakers, I'd just change the H/U and leave it at that. Seems like a lot of buggering about to change the speakers when your not really going to see any increase in quality.

I would not bother with replacing the rears - put the money in the font speaks - and go for components - the octy tweeters are dire! If any help I put Pioneers TS-1785 in my octy - they were about £45 but fit perfecty. Also have a look at other threads on here as to cutting the door membrane and filling it the holes in the frame.

I was very pleased with the results. Im also considering an Alpine H/U btw.
