Tmc

Featured Replies

Hi everyone I am new to the forum as I just got an superb elegance about 2 months back . Its a 2005 march model and comes fitted with a sat nav. The sat nav has a 2004/05 disc for UK .Everything else seems fine but I cannot get the TMC to work. When I go to program the TMC after pressing the bottom right corner button and click on TMC all I get is a beep.

It wont try looking for any TMC chanels etc.

Is there a problem with the unit or disc or has anyone else faced the same problem . Anyways of getting round this. Or am I supposed to fiddle with the settings

Thanks in anticipation

Had the same problem with my Superb. Fixed it by buying the new navigation disc 'With TMC' from tele-atlas.

The unit now collects all the messages but, the one time it mattered I was lead to the end of the queue where the A120 at braintree had been closed for an hour:( That and the following week when I took the car to Bicester for a rolling road remap, the satnav was telling me I was off road when I was actualy on the M25. Hmmm!

I'm not sure if it was worth the money.

Thanks for the info I wonder if I could buy the CD and test it it is available for 120 quid at satnavsystems. My only concern is if it dosent work and then I would have spent the money

Have a look at your current CD, if it is TMC enabled it will say so on the disk it's self.

I'm averaging 1000 miles a week all over the country and TMC is very useful indeed!

Thanks for the reply my cd doesnt say anything about TMC looks like i am going to buy the CD with TMC hope it works fingers crossed

Agree with spencem your problem will be that you dont have the tmc equiped version of the cd - it costs more so thats why you wee supplied with the cheaper version probably. I have the OE navigation unit in both my cars and find the unit works well in all countries - I have travelled a lot using the navigation units but the tmc function has not helped me it has only warned of disruptions and not needed to divert - I use the manual tailback option very often to force a diversion. Must be just missing the delays!!!

The only time it had a road closure was at the dartford tunnel when I had just passed a get off junction when it picked up the road closed signal:mad:

If I was buying a new disk I would buy it with tmc but whether I could warrent the outlay if I had an up to date disk would be another matter - depend on your daily milage.
