How to add iPod Ice-Link and keep the CD Changer

Featured Replies

Albeit without HU control (or iPod pausing on TA or Telephone mute) and you’ll need a MY2007 model with a AUX input.

1) Acquire the Dension IceLink Lite - http://www.dension.com/icelinklite.php

2) Cut the black ground wire and throw away the Quadlock assembly

3) Connect the ground & +12v wires to suitable sources

Either,

4a) Remove the factory fitted AUX pins from the blue Quadlock, and replace with those crimped on the IceLink Lite unit.

4b) Cut off the Quadlock pins from the IceLink Lite unit, and solder on a cable with a 3½mm stereo jack plug - this is then plugged into the Aux socket.

5) Add your choice of Active cradle or even the dock cable.

Result - iPod connected to AUX input, iPod charging while in car, CD Changer still usable.

Updated 04-Dec-2006: Having now tried this, I can confirm that it does work....

How do you control the iPod playback, from the iPod itself?

Uses iPod user interface

:D

See, now wasn't that much easier than making me read the entire original post :P

Ta.

I still don't know why people would want to keep a collection of scratched CD's in their car when they can dump it all onto an iPod and set up a nice selection of playlists.

Can now confirm that the theory was correct and this method works :D

If anyone one is looking for the Quadlock extension assembly (the bit that isn't needed!) send me a PM.....
