dvd headunit

Featured Replies

hey there ive just bought a dvd headunit and went to put in in my fabia vrs and found out that it wont fit but the only way around it would be to file some of the plastic away where the headunit fits, has anyone had this problem or know the best thing to do

In what way doesnt it fit and what dvd unit is it?

I had a Alpine Flip out unit fitted. They took out the glove box and put all wire around in to the hole then plug the unit up then pushed the unit in to the din slot. went in quite easy to say theres miles of wiring behind there. Then he tidyed all the wiring up and then fitted the glove box back. Try fitting it this way, if not iam sure a good audio bloke at an hours labour of about 40quid should sort it out.

a good dvd unit should fit fine, its only the cheap ones that could possibly cause problems. i have had 3 cd/dvd units over as many years now with screens on them (a 7" motorised screen, a 3" screen and a 7" double din unit) and although tight i have never had to cut anything out of the car to get them to fit.

the latest one has about as many cables coming out of it as a house has in it as i have used pretty much every possible input and output and still haven't had to cut and shut the car.

the best way to get the back is to remove the center vents and hazard switch. this can easliy be done with a thin car. think theres a thread somewhere if you do a search.

i have also found that with some top end units the amps on the back are huge and wont push back in fully. all you need to do is trim a piece of the plasic at the back of the din slot. ie where the rubber mounts sits on the orginal unit.

:D
