Wiring a DVC sub

Featured Replies

Ive got an Alpine mrp-m350 amp

200w rms @4ohm

350w rms @2ohm

Can i run this with my Alpine SWR-1222D

200-500w rms

2ohm DVC

If i wire it like this

DVC_Series_1.gif

will it be powering each coil at 100w

is this way to little

or is the 200-500 divided by the two coils (100-250 per coil)

can i wire just one of the coils so it runs 350w @2 Ohm

or is there a better way to wire this

is that the alpine type S subs?? if so i have four of them in my boot :D

i your running just one sub and a 2ohm stable amp then really you hav the wrong sub mate as with a dual 2ohm sub you either run it at 4ohm or 1ohm. wiring the coils in series will add the impedance together and running them in parallel will divide the the average of the coils byt the number of coils so 2x2/2=2ohm average/2=1hm load so your amp isn't really powerful enough to run it at 4ohm and your amp isn't 1ohm stable sadly.

really you needed a sub with dual 4ohm coils and run them in parallel resulting in (4ohmx2)/2=4ohm average/2=2ohm load if you get what i mean :) imagine how confusing it was for me having 4 DVC subs  which is why i have ended up with a rockford 1602BD running them :o

so with a dual 2ohm sub your looking at a 4ohm load so only a 200W rated supply with a 400W load, if you listen to it loud ish you will burn out your sub and sadly no you can't run just one coil of a DVC as it might well damage it more than under powering it.

sorry.
