internal door release cable

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to change the internal door release cable in the drivers door without removing the lock mechanism from the door?

My cable seems to have stretched near the crimped metal piece that attached to the internal door handle - so there are only a few strands attached to the crimped bit, and it is too loose to stay in place

Reading the haynes manual it suggests removing the lock which all seems rather like hard work just to change the cable....

It can be done but it gets fiddly.

i started fiddling, but I could not see how to release the cable from the lock :-( Maybe when I have a bit more patience I will give it another try.

I think that you need to turn the end 90 degrees clockwise and it will come out.

thanks... I'll give that a try next time I pull the trim off.....

had to replace all 4 cables to new modified type in my taxi. Remove panel, ondo latch (2 large spline screws ) and fiddle 90 degrees
