Hi.Does anybody know if Skoda Favorit have a PCV valve???

positve crankcase ventilation valve.... normally only fords have these fitted to the back of the engine block, the favorit will have a breather pipe instead

I dont know if your weird ecotronic setup has the carbon cannister on the right hand side of the engine bay, this recycles crank fumes and send them back into the intake to be burnt throught the engine, these can get clogged and cause problems and can I believe be bypassed without a major problem

You are absolutely correct, and I bloomin well know that, I should think about things before I reply. I guess I was just side tracked thinking about venting issues etc, really should have done better, number of times Ive installed crank case to air breathers instead of crank case to airfilter ones :( I only just got shot of the best part of 4 favorit injection systems in pieces around here from cars IVe broken. Ive got two breaker favorits sitting less than 20 metres from me one injection and one carb.

Now what sort of excuse can I use for being an idiot?

I haved looked at the engine yesterday and I have noticed that there are 2 rubber "tubes" from crankcase : one to the carburetor, after the air filter and the other just below the carburetor.What is the function of each of them, how can this affect the engine performance and how can I tell that they are working corectly???Thx a lot.

they are there to remove the harmfull byproducts of combustion which are left often inside the crankcase... it works by using the vacuum from the engine to suck the fumes away from the engine, these fumes get burnt whilst the engine is running.. there is normally a non-return valve somewhere as well

i'm not 100% sure why there is two of them, but it may be just to equalize the pressure difference bewteen the intake ducting and the crankcase..

there is no real way to test the operation of this system, but it's fairly safe to say that if it's blocked up, you wont pass any emssions inspections...

performance wise, disconecting it will have little or no effect on the performance of the engine (unless it is a turbocharged engine) in fact having a slight vacuum inide the engine could actually cause the engine to run more freely due to less 'air resistance'
