Coil pack problem?

Is this the coil problem??

Whilst driving into work today, my engine suddenly seemed to cut to 3 cylinders and the engine light came on shortly after. On the mway at the time but was close to Winchester Skoda so limped ito there. If it is the coils will it still be covered by the recall? Is a 2001 1.8t elegance.

It sounds like it could be but ideally you need to get a diagnostic check carried out. If your car has a full Skoda service history and still has the problematic G or H version coil packs fitted, your Skoda dealer may be able to get Skoda UK to agree to replace them FOC. I say may because the Service Bulletin was withdrawn a considerable while ago after ample time has elapsed for all afffected cars to have been checked during routine servicing or repairs.

Just heard back from the garage, it is the coils but none in stock til later in the week. Apparently my car had 3 of one version of coil and one of another. So this must be the second coil failure. Oh well, could have been worse, like the head gasket or something!

Thanks for advice

Have you got breakdown recovery? I called the RAC out (Nr Winchester... Is it something in the air?) and they had one on the van! The fella fitted it foc.

Any idea which versions are fitted?

Was with green Flag (comes with my bank account)and not too impressed, he just wanted to tow me to the garage and had nout in his truck in the way of spares.

No idea what versions the coils are, but will find out. Hopefully get the car back on wednesday at the latest.

Just spoke to customer services at Skoda about the coils on my 01 Elegance 1.8t.

They informed me that my car has never been subject to a recall for coils or anything else for that matter? Strange and not very helpful!

Hi

IIRC it was the coils that are fitted to the 180bhp engine

The coils differ from engine to engine and I seem to think it was just the vRS`s that had the issue

Sorry , but the good thing is that they are not that expensive
