Featured Replies

i recently had my leaky rear wash wipe fixed but now rear wiper doesnt work at all washer works wiper doesnt ive checked connection in boot and fuse both ok

also brake light warning symbol occasionally beeps at me when i press brakes all lights are in working order any help would be appreciated:O

It might not help you much but I have had problems with intermittant rear wipe so have a look through my thread here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/octavia/rear-wiper-problem-again/76704/

It might help you to check if the motor itself is dodgy by shorting the two centre wires of the plug on the motor down to ground - please only try this if you are confident and have access to a meter to check what's live and ground etc!

from what I remember the outer two wires are supply (brown is ground I think) while the 2nd one did wash at 12v, the 3rd wire should activate wipe at ground.

There are two connection points in the tailgate alone, without counting the one behind the carpet near the cd changer position - one on the motor and another tucked in behind the metal frame to the left.

Again, I must stress don't go shorting wires unless you are REALLY sure what you are doing - I'm not responsible if you frazzle anything :cool: .

Edit: Here's the colours from my 54 plate vrs.

Black/Brown = +12v (Ignition switched)

Green/White = Wash when connected to +12v (Also activates wipe when held to ground instead of +12v)

Green/Red = Wipe when connected to ground

Brown = Ground.

Amazing how annoying this problem can be, have a Skoda Octavia since June it is displaying the exact same symptoms. Garage have replaced rear windscreen motor and stalk to no avail. I still believe this is a relay problem with the relay remaining on or going into the on position from movement etc., Have been unable to locate the Relay!

Where exactly have you located the relay in the Octavia? Have you been successful in getting to the bottom of this problem.

Mine hasn't done it since I had a look at all the connections myself :rolleyes: .

I believe the relay is located under the drivers side kick panel.

All three items (relay, motor and stalk) were replaced on mine without curing the fault until I checked over all the connection points.
