Superb wipers

Featured Replies

Hi All, The wiper blades on my Superb need changing, does anyone have any recommendations please? I couldn't find anything on the site to do with Superb blades but I know there are issues with some models.

i've just paid

As far as I know, the wipers are a dealer only part...now there's a surprise.

Your service, again unfortunately is probably a wee bit much but not too far wrong.

I just had an annual service, inspection and MOT on my 2.5 TDI done for

I bought some Bosch generic fit aero wipers from Halfords, cost about

My 05 superb has ordinary wipers (the one on the passenger side has a curve in it) but they are due for a change soon

Yeah the newer Superbs went back to the the 'old school' wipers and arms as Skoda had so many complaints about the Aero Wipers IIRC...

Wonder how much it would cost to get the wipers (and wiper arms?) converted to the normal ones? I'm not much a fan of the rain sensing thing either - maybe the Aero blades make this worse as it's so obvious there's no rain to wipe when the blades are shuddering and jumping on the screen!

Having gone from the normal wipers and arms to the Aero Wipers and arms on my previous car (VW Bora) IIRC I paid around

I love the Aeros on my Passat - I thought the windscreens would be identical?

I bet they work on the Passat though? Do they?

I am just assuming that the screen is different? Maybe it's not but the angle of the screen or the wiper arms, springs, motors on the Superb just don't tie up well at all together....

The whole set up on the Superb is the same as the Passat - you can fit a Passat windscreen to a Superb.

The main problem with the Aero wiper blades is that the rubber develops a "set" when the blades are parked. The trick is to lift and move the arm slightly when you leave the vehicle so the blades are flipped in the opposite direction - this will relieve the "set" in the rubber. Of course, half the time you will forget - which is just what's needed to keep the blades symmetrical. After this treatment, the Aero blades on my car (originals) work perfectly.

A lousy Bosch detail I'm afraid - these blades are really hopeless when it's very cold as they become too stiff.

There are just too many silly details like this on VAG cars now. My next vehicle will be a Honda or a Toyota now that the Japs have cracked the diesel engine and can make good ones. When I bought my Superb, a "good" Jap diesel was outside my price range.

rotodiesel.

I can only assume mine were just changed before i got the car because they are faultless.

I assume you have adjusted the switch on the top of your wiper stalk that changes the wiper intermittance, which also makes it less sensitive?

It is slightly better when set to be less sensitive, though still catches on the screen.

I'll give that a go. :)
