does speaker cable crosstalk matter?

Featured Replies

Just in the middle of installing rear speaker wiring for my fabia. I plan to run the two cables (left&right) on the passenger side behind the trim under the doors. Is it OK to tape them tightly together along the way? Or should I leave some space between them (just let them run separately) to reduce channel crosstalk (if crosstalk is an issue at all with speaker wiring)?

Is it reasonable to wrap the entire cable, or just use tape at places of contacts with sharp edges?

thx for any comments!

You shouldnt get 'crosstalk' but do try to avoid crossing any chunky power cables as this can cause interferance.

i doubt if crosstalk will ever show itself in a car... the length of cable used is far to short for it to be a problem, also the voltage of the electrics is only 12v, so not a great deal of magnetic field around the power cables... but more importanlty it's DC...

obviously the speaker signals are AC, but the current is so small it wont matter

as long as you keep them away from power cables you will be fine
