Brake lights

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2000 Octavia, all three of my brake lights have failed, I checked the fuse, it was ok but I changed it anyway. Checked the bulbs by switching them with the working reverse light bulbs, pushed out the stop lamp switch? Any ideas??

I don't know if the stop lamp switches go on these, or if it's more likely to be a break in wiring?

Thanks for reading,

This happened to my TDI, lost all brake lights and the glow plug lamp lit up. It was the brake switch on top of the pedal that had come off the braket[ missus had booted it off]. undid the trim panel above the pdeals to get at the switch and screwed it back in [ they are a bit like a bayonet light bulb type of fitting..quarter turn to lock in] and problem sorted...might be worth a bit of wd40 on the switch 'plunger' while you've got it off to stop it sticking]

...still don't know why the glow plug lamp gives the warning that you have no brake lights ...but s'pose thats VAG for you...

Brake light switches are very common...cheap too so worth changing as a start.

Four pins on the switch, two for lights and two for engine ecu. engine needs a signal from the switch for various management reasons. The coil light indicates a fault in the engine ecu.
