Dictating drop on Springs...

Featured Replies

Hi Folks....

I've been looking at getting rid of the Superb lately, for a Vectra VXR, but considering the Superb only has just gone 40k and the Vectra would be

With coilovers you will be able to adjust the ride height as you wish but you will have to find out from the manufacturer if they are suitable, will be effected by towing a caravan.

It is not a cheap option but speak to someone like SPAX who will be able to make you a set of custom springs for the rear. Most suspension manufacturers will make custom springs for specific applications it is just the cost usually that is prohibitive. It is not so much the cost of manufacture but the development.

This way you will be able to get a set of suitable dampers for towing then get the custom springs turned so that they have the lowering characteristics you want and then won't mis-form/ride incorrectly when pulling a caravan. You never know if they haven't got that application then offer them your car as a test-bed, for a healthy discount of course ;-))

Will you have any issues with the tow bar height if the car is lowered? Will the caravan still sit right?

Will you have any issues with the tow bar height if the car is lowered? Will the caravan still sit right?

Thats the exact reason why I am looking for just a 10 - 15 mm drop, or even return the car back to its standard ride height when I want to drag the caravan.

The caravan would still sit good with just a 10 mm drop

Your options are as I can see it limited to two:

1) Coliovers - adjust the height and camber depending on what set up you get but changing this easily is not an easy task as you will have to jack the car up to modify the height of each wheel into the arch;

2) Air Ride - Very expensive and something I have looked at and can be set up to any level but you would need around

hi guys.I need help on this.I have a octavia 1.8t fitted with koni fsds and eibach pro springs.My problem is that when i load my car with lots of stuff it sits too low on the aft axle.I searched on the internet and found out tha MAD has a kit with springs which you put them inside the aft pair that you already have.When you do that you will have a leveled car when you overload it.But can i use them with my eibachs?And will it spoil my ride?Has anyone tried this?
