Central Locking HELP!!

Featured Replies

Unlocked my car this morning to get something out then immediately re-locked it, but noticed it hadn't fully closed so unlocked it again and pushed it fully closed.

When I then tried to re-lock it with the fob it would not.

If I press the un-lock button you get the usual unlock noise and light flash but it will not lock with either the fob or key in the lock (tried the tailgate lock as well)

I have had the door panel off and all the connections are ok.

It will lock if you sit in and use the button on door panel.

The interior light and door panel light is on and does not goe off even when you put the ignition on.

Could I have un-coded the keys? (I have tried the spare and a new battery in one)

Or is it something else like convience ECU (whatever that is, read about it on some links)

Any ideas folks before I go to the dealers (Car is 2001 TDi Elegence Estate)

PS Had car from new 89000k and this is the first thing ever to go wrong, please help!!

If it were mine i would disconnect the battery leave it ten mins then reconnect and try again

remember you need to reset the leccy windows afterwards

Unless anyone else has a better suggestion of course

Thanks, just tried that but no good.

Everything works apart from being able to lock car with remote and the interior light and door panel light not going off.

Silly questions but what puts the lights on when you open the door as there is no plunger switch like on older cars, presume its something in door electrics?

check the door switshes every door has one switsh one of them is stuck to on position permanetly and causes all the problems the door switches are a litle bit diferent on octavia for example on drivers side check down to the left with the door open and you will find it

Hi there, i have the same problem, did you fix the problem and if so how?

I have replaced battery in key fob.

As far as I know,,the door switch is located inside the door Lock. And,,from What I read,,not too easy to get at,or replace. Mine is gone also,,No Red light on the door,,No interior light comes on,,and No Beeping noise when the headlights are left on.

Serious bummer..:(
