which head unit is better???

Featured Replies

hi as you may know ive got a skoda fabie 1.4 16v

i wanna do a few modds with the ICE but nothing major

currently got the standard alpine header unit and 6 cd changer, i installed two kenwood 10 inch subs and a sony 4 way amp, because of the sub my cd changer vibrates and skips, so im after a new header unit, so i can get rid off the cd changer and use the cd off the header unit,

so which would you recomend out of these two, they are about in my price rane and look pretty cool

so far its this Ripspeed DV720 DVD/MP3/CD Player from Halfords Was £599.99 Save £400.00 Price £199.99

or this SeViC 7'' In Dash DVD Player - SBL0203MP4 from £199.99 was £249.99 SAVE £50

opinions please

Neither they are both poo :D

HTH

Save for a named unit, the ripspeed units are made by a company from china called foryouelectronics. nice

I'd only buy non-branded electronics if they were very cheap, and those aren't. Every single thing made for Ripspeed is tat.

Like skudmissile says, go for a decent unit. I've got a very old Pioneer head unit in my Fabia that SWMBO bought for her mini in about 1997, and it still blows the standard stereo away and works perfectly. I'll replace it with a bluetooth unit when i can face spending money on a decent one.

Ripspeed = ****e.

Mate of mine had one and it spent more time out of the car being fixed than it did working.

There's a good reason why there is 400 notes off the Ripspeed player.

Halfrauds also buggered his dash up when they threw it in.

As above, get a decent brand and get it elsewhere and check the Halfrauds policy when it comes to faulty items.

Totally underrated but the JVC EXAD series DVD players are very good. Mentioned friend bought my old KD-AVX1 off me once he flogged the ****speed player.

they call ripspeed, ripsh** because it is poo. i would go for a alpine headunit you can never go wrong with alpine, can get a good quality alpine headunit for 100 notes

No security on either as well.

what about the sevic thow, ive herd pretty good reports, i really want one with a dvd player in it, but dont wanna go to silly money

any other options???

never heard of them!

you're best off getting a good CD headunit, then expanding with a DVD player after, tbh

Are you going to watch DVD's while you drive? I never understood why anyone would want those things myself. You get in the car, go to where you're going, and get out - usually not spending an hour and half parked up draining the battery to watch a movie.

Don't know anything about them myself, but what about one of these? Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. JVC KD-AVX11 - JVC JVC-KDAVX11 The JVC brand is usually ok for car audio. Or Car Audio Direct - The UK's leading car audio and stereo resource. Alpine is also considered a decent brand AFAIK.

Get a Becker head unit. I did and it's worth every penny. The looks aren't very bling and the ch@vs wouldn't even consider nicking it, but the sound is great.

Alpine 9861ri can be picked up 2nd hand for that money if your looking to use dvds for music storage and allows you to buy a screen separate if you really want a screen.

either way wait till after xmas (january Sales) and go for a branded unit from alpine, becker, pioneer, kenwood, blaupuntk, JVC etc

RipoffSpeed from what I've seen of them.
