How do I replace standard aerial base on Fabia

Featured Replies

Seasons Greetings.

My standard headunit radio reception is worse than pants. I have done a search and read that water ingress can damage the ampifier/booster found in the aerial base - any idea how much that is? and how I go about changing it?

I assume I need to remove the rear headlining but don't want to damage it!

if its anything like the golf ive just done its a case of pulling off the plastic peice that covers the end of the roof lining and goes round to the rubber seal of the boot. these are normally clipped in. if you break any clips they shouldnt be that expensive from the dealer.

then loosened the plastic covers on either side, just so i could get a bit move space.

the actual antenna base should be held on by a single nut. its probably quite big (22-24 ish) best have a spanner or a adjustable as the space is quiet resitricive.

in the gold there was a wire for the antenna and then one for the amp. i dissconnected those and pulled the old base out. take your time and have good lighting and its not too hard a job. i didnt have any trouble iwht getting the headlining all back in place as i hardly disturbed it.
