Just a quicky, is it possible to have a sub in the boot using the standard head unit?

I have tried searching but nothing comes up regarding the use of the standard HU. If not, I will have to look into upgrading that aswell, but I dont want to spend too much in total at the moment, £200 max.....which should hopefully be enough for a sub / fitting.

imo yes but you have to wire it using the rear speaker cables. will sound poo.

you really need a head unit with pre outs. sorry to dissappoint

You can get a preout adapter that will do what you need it to, wiring the sub from the rear speakers is a BAD idea.

I think he means the adapter runs off the rear speakers (at least I hope he does)

Thanks for your help guys... however, I was speaking with my brother last night and he is going to give me his old sub, so I can spend a little bit on a new HU now with pre outs.

Try and get one with controller on the sub pre out so you can play around with the sound a bit.

Errr.......... ive just been looking at what HU's are about, OMG how confused am I, there are so many to choose from!!!

Err, do I want ipod, mp3, wma, cd, dvd, sd etc etc im lost does DVD means it plays audio recorded on a DVD cd? Ive got about 5GB of music, if i can stick most of it on 1 DVD that would be easy

Another really thick questions here, will the ISO plug from the std HU fit an aftermarket one, so I only need to wire in the Sub, and not the other speakers, kind of plug and play!

Also, any recommendations on a HU, I want to spend about £100 - £150.

Sorry to sound think, the last time I bought a new HU the only choice was CD or tape LOL

tell me if I am wrong but is there not a kit you can buy that give you preouts on the standard skoda unit. I think the adaptor goes in next to where the CD plugs in

I think there is, but for the sake of £100 I can get a better HU with more power, plus it has SD Card etc....

Is this any good?
