Favour from any southern VRS owners

Featured Replies

I don't suppose anybody will volunteer to let me see if my spare wheel fits on the front of an Octy VRS with the 312mm discs.

Some beer tokens can be arranged for any help.

Thanks in advance

Well; seeing as we (vRS owners) all get given a 16" steelie with IIRC a 205/55 16 tyre as a spare wheel, I guess your spare will fit a vRS so the answer to your question ought to be; YES your spare will fit a vRS (with 312mm discs). :D:thumbup:

Dammit - I've just done myself out of some beer tokens. :(

Do you really only get a 16" spare, how random.

Thing is though that I would think the gap inside of a steel might be larger as the steel can be thinner.

You did however work out what I'm trying to work out. ;)

Thinking of another point; all the Fabia vRS that do a 312mm brake upgrade can run on normal vRS 16" alloys but can't use a 14" steel spare.

By the way; what is the purpose of your experiment? Are thinking of a brake upgrade?

Where in the South exactly... that's quite a big area... ;)

I'm cheap, i don't even need Beer Tokens to lend a hand if needs be...

Hampshire or Dorset and I'm curious as to the possibility of VRS brakes on a non VRS shall we say.

Only just seen this and I can pop by your workplace anytime  although as said before, the spare is a 16" steelie so you should be fine :)

The Fabia vrs spare is a 16" rim, as the tyre is the same that is on the alloy so it will fit.

oops; sorry. :o

But the internal space on a 16" steel might be greater than the internal space on a 16" alloy as the alloy is usually thicker than the steel

So as 312mm brakes will fit on a 16" alloy, they will also fit on a 16" steel, which is the answer to the question.

No it isn't.

My question was will they fit under the Vega Alloy, which is different to the Fabia VRS alloy.

The steel was never part of my question, however when people mentioned a 16" steel as a spare, then I pointed out the difference in metal thickness.

Either way, big  up to Steve as we have just tried my spare over the VRS front brakes and it fites just fine :)

Steve may put some pictures up later :)

I was answering Bahnstormers seperate question, given that steve had mentioned as such in response to yours.

Proof conclusively that they fit just fine

Ah; glad to know that all is sorted.

Sorry if I confused the issue by mentioning Fabia wheels.
