How to: Sound dampening

Featured Replies

Was thinking of adding sounding dampening while upgrading my speakers and found this step-by-step guide that others might also find useful.

Installing Dynamat vibration dampening

Anyone know of a cheap supplier? I did see a link to an e-bay seller in a previous post but they were selling enough to proof a car (maybe even a lorry) and I only want to do 2 doors

I'll give you a piece of advice from experience.

Original Dynamat is IMHO overpriced cr*p.

Dynamt extreme is good but expensive and somebody on here has used eDead, which I'm going to look into.

Found this which might be useful....

So do all these sort of things replace the original plastic door weatherguards? Sounds like quite an easy mod to do. However, while there is the road noise from below, I assume most audible noise will come through the windows themselves, like wind noise, which are level with your ears.

I used ivanhoe stuff before as a mate had a load spare, seemed to do very well and i used it to replace my missing vapour barrier.

I have used most makes in my cars during the last 14 years and Dynamat is cr-p its hard work to fit.Brown bread and ivanhoe is good value for money but needs several layers). My last car which was a mondeo 4x4 i used stinger roadkill and this was excellent but very expensive it is very easy to cut and is very flexible when warm and it sticks like superglue ,i have used this in my front doors on my octavia but have now started useing second skin damplifier pro which seems even better than the roadkill. In my opinion it seems to damp the panels better and is really flexible and easy to fit and rolls like a dream.I will now use this. Its also on a very good offer at Car Audio Direct - Second Skin Damplifier Pro Bulk Kit - Accessory

I use bodyline and its cheap.

I use edead. cheap and does a good job

I have used second skin sound deadening in my boot and all the doors amazing stuff really does stop the rattles and sounds to much better highly recommended!

Sorry was going to post a couple of picture but have lost them!icon8.gif
