Northern Ireland 1.9TDi 105PD Octavia ECU Re-Map Questions

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I recently took delivery of my first Skoda Octavia (Dec 2006, 14000 Miles) and i have to say it's been absolutely great. The car is much better in every way than the Citroen Picasso i previously drove and there's a fair bit more 'poke' in her than that last peice of junk!

I'm seriously considering getting an ECU Re-Map done and the guys i have been talking to about it (Ryan @ Auto-Tune In Ballymena, Northern Ireland) say that the engine will tune up to 145BHP purely with the Re-Map.

This sounds absolutely great as i've always want to own something with real 'balls' and i'm drooling at the thought of my beautiful Octy with that much power but i'm concerned about a few things namely : fuel economy, warranty issues, reliability. Does anybody have experience of this sort of re-map, this particular tuning house and the whole topic in general? I know a fair bit about PC overclocking, but sod all about doing approximately the same to a car.

Any advice greatfully received, and beer owed :)

Regards,

Martyn

Keep the beer money for fuel, but I note SuperChips and Revo offer PD105 maps (I was looking for one to put on the Fabia II Sport, to tide my brother over until the vRS comes out)

Skoda Fabia (same engine as Octavia PD105)

2005 onwards

Engine type : Turbo-Diesel

Engine size : 1896 cm3

Cylinders : 4

Original bhp : 105

Original nm : 250

BHP increase : 27 (->143)

NM gain : 55 (->305)

Lb/Ft gain :

Standard : Revo

bhp 105 : 145

Torque 184 : 235

Revo is 17.5% more expensive (at 586 vs 499) and SuperChips have a matching 3 year warranty to OEM manufacturers.

The fuel economy may well increase (notwithstanding the fact you will have the pedal to the floor whilst grinning ear to ear)

Take a look at the SC Powergraph and see how much more useable the engine becomes, particularly high up. Really lets the engine run to the red line.

I highly recommend auto tune in ballymena. Never had a problem with either of the 2 cars I have had done with them. Seem to be alot less smokey than alot of mappers in NI as well. What price are they quoting you?

also try torquetronix in kells - dave wishart - for a quote

tom500 : £235 including VAT

less smoky?

i will certainly try the other place too ..... :)

Basically i've got about £600 to spend between the re-map and a half decent set of alloys :)

edit : of course that's probably about half of what actually gets spent!

don't forget about insurance company if ur gettin remapped extra 25% :mad:

davy in kells might be cheaper...;)

revo mite be best map but will be dearer... {aidan in cookstown } :(

but ph round... :thumbup:

oh eye... welcome 2 briskoda... :cheers:
