I've heard talk of the VAG 2 litre CR appearing in coming versions of the vRS TDI. Does anyone know if the CR engine will appear in the standard models as well?. The vRS one will be the 170 bhp version, but the same engine also comes in a 143bhp version (the new A4). This would be an excellent substitute for the 140bhp 2 litre...

I doubt it. The new Superb will be fitted with the old PD 2.0 TDI (140bhp)

But it'll also be fitted with the 170bhp CR, from what i've heard.

No, I don't think it will.

The DPF problems it is having will see to that along with emissions regs and the fact that all new VAG cars will get the CR engines for EU emissions reasons..

The official new Superb specs includes the old PD 1,9 TDI (105), the old PD 2.0 TDI (140) and the new CR 2.0 TDI (170). The PD engines will live a few more years, I guess.

I noticed the other day when in the local Skoda dealership that Skoda have produced a special leaflet specifically on the 'care and maintenance' of the DPF. It certainly looked as if the dealers have been specifically requested to plaster this leaflet all around the showrooms and the service depts. This would indicate to me that more than a few people have had serious issues with the DPF.

VW havent started using the CR engine and looking at engines of the past they will get it ahead of Skoda so a wait I think.

It will probably use the Octavia 2.0l tdi rather than the current superb 2.0l tdi which is a different engine.

Thats a longitudinally mounted engine, If im right the new Superb will be transverse a'la 3C Passat. Not seen any engine pictures as yet but the pics from inside would indicate a low transmission/exhaust tunnel which would support that theory.

I have mine 2.0 TDI remaped three times and have no problem with the DPF. Haven´t heard anyone else in Sweden who have problem with it. Perhaps we have a cleaner diesel.

Allways use Low SAPS oil ( VW 504 00 or 507 00) to get a longer life of your DPF
