Cambelt, water pump, pulleys and tensioners.

Featured Replies

Now maybe I've been playing with fire here having let my car go so long without getting it done, but nevertheless it will be 7 years old in September and currently has only 58,000 miles on the clock. So time I got it done as guidelines state 4yrs or 60,000 whichever comes first.

I can sourse the Cambelt kit and water pump for less than £90, so what should I expect to pay to get it done as I've been quoted £220 all in?

£220 for the cambelt kit, waterpump and fitting is cheap. Almost too cheap in fact.

Or is that in addition to the £90 for parts - totalling £310?

People have paid up to £500. Skoda have just introduced their new 'National Pricing' however which gets you a main dealer price of £369 for the belt and pump fitted inc. VAT.

220 that's really cheap, I have mine booked in two weeks time for 369 the skoda stamp in that book is worth the extra cost as well as the 2 year parts and labour guarantee. 220 does seem a little worrying is it a genuine skoda cambelt kit? I thinks it's about 127 bucks alone? Water pumps is 60 bucks plus anti freeze coolant and labour...

Those prices sound too cheap. I did mine about a month ago, and used a gates cambelt kit (same parts that VAG sell). The kit was £100, but I searched the internet intensely to get it that cheap. Usually it's about £120. The kit from a dealer can be had for about £130 if you shop around on the internet. That does not include the water pump, which adds another £40 or so (if you shop around hard).

The cambelt kit includes replacement rollers, tensioner and replacement threaded studs that the roller/tensioner are bolted onto. I really wouldn't mess about with cheap kits as some of these parts may not be included.
