is 94000 too hig mileage ?

Featured Replies

as title says ive seen a reasonably priced vrs furby with full history

is this an ok mileage do you think for a 56 reg???

just wondered what peoples thoughts were as now want something a bit better than a 1.4mpi

it's either this or a seat fr tdi

Buy a leon fr tdi ;)

But 94k is fine on these engines it the other parts you need to look out for

Check timing belt history, make sure turbo is good and make sure the clutch and flywheel are in perfect order and it will be a good car :)

94k miles isn't even run in yet.

I'm currently on 170k miles in my PD100 :)

don't want a leon tbh i dont like em and too pricey id have an oct over them anyday but always fancied a furby vrs

although i must admit one lad i knew spent a lot trying to make his handle like a suzuki swift sport on the corners, something he said he never managed, and (he spent a lot)must admit i loved mine on b roads, still had to get rid when i lost my job...

anyway as far as i am aware cam belt and water pumps been done

tbh i didnt think the mileage should be too high and as most say a new car can have problems

but may get it checked over before i buy anyhow

thanks for the replies so far

Ibiza fr tdi ;) ..... It's still the same car at the end if the day, both got pro's and cons. Only small things mind like cup holders and door leaks.

Aslong as its been serviced at appropriate intervals (12kish or 20k if on long life) then it's absolutely fine!

Should be ok if serviced on time etc.

Only thing to consider is that coming up to 100k miles you're looking at needing to pay some attention to rubber mounts, suspension struts and springs and other general wear items.

The EGR may also need a clean if it's never been done (mine was horrible after 100k miles!)

As above.. just make sure the car has been well serviced and looked after..

this guide has helped me many times as I always take a check list when I go and see a car..

and this one..

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/car-buyers-guide/cbg_diyinspection.html

but in actual answer to your question.. then no 94000 isn't too high for any VAG diesel tbh.. just a matter of how well its been cared for and watch out for your common faults which are usually easy to fix.

funny you should say the maintenance thing as sometimes it is pot luck

My father had a toyota corolla (old kind) for 8 years, did 12k a year, and never once did he service it, never even checked the oil (I AM NOT EXAGGERATING!!!!!!) the only reason it went was it failed mot on rust.

Did 133k in total with no more than the initial 3 services. Its down to each car really

Seen full dealer history cars with major problems in less than 60k - use yer noggin and if it dont feel right walk away

Your initial comments sound soooo much like my old dad, bless him. Many years ago we drove from Kent up to Scotland in an old Toyota & only after arrival did he think to check the oil level. Suffice to say it wasn't even showing on the dip stick but she got us there & back !!

Only broken in at that milage. Also why are people suggesting other cars too buy??

Opening post said seat fr tdi... So who knows what model that could have been!

So the sad lad who spent lots of time trying to get his Fabia to handle like a Suzuki Swift

I don't suppose he's now wasting his time trying to get a not very swift Suzuki to be as spritely as a vRS  What is he the king of lost causes or something

Given the two challenges I'll take making a Fabia handle better every time....94k is nothing, just breaking them in

No worries sorry I miss read that..

Seriously cant be hard too do?? I had my fabia handling as well as any hot hatch I ever have drove (type r`s and a st) and only had fitted the obvious... I never even thought their was a hot hatch suzuki swift that could compete???

Never /\

Type r would **** all over a fabia round the twisties

Even an arb'd up, braced up fabia, running top spec coils, diff and brembo's still isnt a great handling car

Bull ****, EP3 type r`s are by no means a great handeling car, well known fact by anyone whos owned one and drove it right. I had what you mentioned bar a diff, and in corners the CTR couldnt stick with me. Fact

But isnt that to be expected when your talking about a car with 1k+ spent on the handeling vs a stock car built to handle well but be practical and comfortable?? my vrs was far from comfortable.

apparentrly he spent well over the price of the car got bored returned it to stock and sold it (used to use it on a track mainly)

another dilemma now, can get an 08 roomster for a little over price of a vrs anfd missus has one which seems ok so far just wondering hmmmmmmm

isn't a ep3 wishbone at the back? vs torsion on the fabia?

my boggo mk1 Focus on Eibach springs was way more confidence inspiring than my Ibiza Cupra with nearly a grands worth of coilovers, diff etc.

Thats exactly the thing though. A Fabia/Ibiza with ££££ worth of mods might well just about out handle a standard civic/clio/etc but I suspect if you done the same mods to both it`d be a different story. I reckon my Mrs Fiesta ST on eibach springs wouldnt be very far behind my Fabia. Put the KW`s on the Fiesta and it`d **** all over the Fabia.

The problem is the huge amount of weight over the front wheels, I`m hoping to dump the air con bits and shif the battery to the boot, get rid of some nose end weight. It`s still not going to be 'nimble' but it should help a bit.

They really aren't that great in the corners, they Push the nose alot for what they are. Plus when you hit a straight the fabia will be gone :D

Yeah, totally :D

Fabias aren't built to handle. Short. Wheel base and a nose heavy car. Isn't 60 odd% of the wieght on the front axle.

To the OP have you looked at Ibiza cupra r? Id pick one over a vrs any day.

Ibiza Cupra R is a bit old though :-/
