  1. Yes basically came to a compromise. Had if it ever happened again, I’d have the car brought to my home and wrap it. Then pay for it to be independently inspected by myself. You live and learn ha ha !! on a plus side nobody was injured. VW/Skoda must know there is an issue !! as seen a few Golf’s also self combust.
  2. Hi sorry I’ve not been having emails to say anyone has replied. But for some reason I’ve just received one. The car was sent for inspection but as it had been on a flat bed for 200 plus miles the fire investigator said it was difficult to give an exact cause. He did agree it was possibly something electrical in the glove box. But wouldn’t commit 100% So basically had to claim from insurance and had a Skoda goodwill cash off whatever I wanted. At the time I bought a 2 month old VRs hatch but never trusted it, so sold it a few months after ownership. Somebody contacted me about a year ago who had seen mine catch fire and they had the same thing happen. I’m unsure what his outcome was. cheers Andy.
  3. No nothing hard wired in there as far as I’m aware.
  4. Cars not been touched in any aspect. It has however 6 weeks ago had a new front bumper. And a crack in the roof repaired. Where they had to remove the headline.
  5. Thanks dude Skoda Uk been in touch. It’s off to Essex tomorrow to be examined.
  6. Does seem like it’s possible started there. It was from behind the dash as for some crazy reason I reached in to grab my house keys.
  7. Car was basically driven 4 miles and parked up. As I walked my puppy near by. Sad times. Now the long wait on what caused it.
  8. There is a a TPI for it as I posted earlier in this thread. If it relates to the car you own then I don't know. I was made aware of it over cranking by the dealer as it was in for other work. It had done it to me or maybe two occasion and thought it was just me. What's the odds on in happening to a technician ? It's all BS in my opinion. Either the car needs it or it does not. Contact skoda U.K. Can't see why dealers would not want to do it. As end of the day they get paid by skoda to sort it.
  9. Take it white Dove Cardiff ? Took them six weeks to code a brand new key to my old fabia VRS. And could never find my PAS light fault on start up. Once VCDS arrived i sorted the PAS light myself. And had already told them in was the battery just from reading up. Bunch of idiots down there. Get down to Capitol skoda in Newport and see Haley.
  10. Show them this thread and ask them to ring SUK. While you are there.
  11. Just have dealer do it. Took white dove Cardiff two days on my then 29 k limited edition VRS with the CR engine to try and adapt it to the car. Until I kicked up a fuss and they had Škoda uk send them an adaptions code.
  12. My 2014 VRS had a water pump fail at 30 k and Skoda assist kindly left me my missis and 9 month old baby on the side of the motorway. For 4 hours.
