  1. Agree, coasting can be annoying, I know you can lift off the throttle quicker to stop it or dab the brakes to get back the engine braking, however I can temporarily stop coasting on my 2019 2.0 TSi by putting it into sport mode then toggling the D/S to move the drive from back from sport to normal drive and the coasting stays disabled (as it is disabled in sport mode). Again only temporarily however! I'm sure there must be other ways to achieve the same result, but worth a go if you’re finding it a PITA!
  2. Yes too flakey for me so I didn’t renew after the first couple of years. The main reassuring feature for me was the alarm alerts, though only had the alerts for one evening after multiple alerts at a hotel found a large moth inside the car! I did like that you could see where the car was and the door / window status too as the MIL left a back door open (not unlocked but open) all evening in a very rainy night, just happened to check the app and then found the rain soaked interior….
  3. Yes I can hear the clicking noise, but is sounds a bit louder and slightly more rhythmic than the issue I’m having. It sounds like something electro-mechanical, but what I don’t know. All I can suggest is trying different controls such as the climatronic to try to see if it stops, otherwise it’s down to detective work. Good luck and happy hunting.
  4. @beeflyawayFirst world problem I know - but I have a ticking noise which I suspect is the climatronic passenger hot / cold flap actuator and happens when it’s about set temperature and controlling. It can be stopped by changing the passenger side temperature, but then it returns. It’s an irritating rattle / ticking that happens even when not moving. I’ve tried the recalibration procedure but to no avail. I’m hoping to get it looked at under warranty but I’m not confident they’ll sort it. Try turning the climatronic off and see if the ticking disappears.
  5. @EnterName Yes I’ve had a couple of Mondeos in my time too, they were good motors (estate was massive) ULEZ is only of concern if you are going through the city centre, if not then not an issue or you can pay if infrequent use. I don’t think it’s been the environmental panacea they say, and all it’ll do is move emissions to the inner ring road (this bypasses the Birmingham ULEZ) for the people that live next to it to breathe in (while paying to use older cars of course) My Diesel VRS was a good motor but used to drink oil, also being Euro 5 would have been too inconvenient for me with Birmingham’s ULEZ as I’m in the city centre quite frequently. I’ve gone petrol too and the mpg is nowhere as near as good though I do enjoy the quieter cabin but miss the low down torque, strange though how the diesel prices have stayed so much higher than petrol, takes the sting out of it slightly. I guess electric is on the cards in the future but doesn’t make financial sense for me at the moment and doing lots of miles I keep reading about the infrastructure / charging horror stories a but that’s a different topic!
  6. @Cornish_Lad I believe they are PW24W bulbs. Expensive and difficult to change. They are available as LEDs but sorry I’ve not done it as they are a swine to get to and I wouldn’t like to get errors etc. Note the bulbs dim too when indicating if I recall correctly. See this link on replacement part numbers etc. Good luck, let us know how you get on if you try it!
  7. The flat bit with the tang on is towards the top, but not quite vertical if I remember correctly, check the other lamp if you are not sure. Did SWMBO Yeti when the drivers side decided to blow just before it’s MOT (you can’t write it), luckily I have a bulb kit so a quick swap out. Easy job especially compared to the DRLs which require a fingertip contortion act!
  8. All sorted! The hose that runs through the top left bellows had split resulting in a water leak when operating the rear wash (nothing seen in boot) and breaking of two cores next to it as it became a point of flexing. Water had also contaminated the plugs further down the loom resulting in bad connections / corrosion on the wiring to the tailgate. A good auto electrician by me found this out and replaced the broken wires, replaced the section of washer tube (so no connectors inside the bellows) and sorted out the plugs / sockets. All working again and major boot issues narrowly avoided. On reflection the only external tell-tale of this happening is that the rear washer jet sort of drained down after use, dribbling on after use. I initially put this down to old age (from personal experience 😀) but it was a sign that the pipe was leaking and air was getting in after use. So if you see similar be warned to get it sorted sooner than later to minimise damage.
  9. Thanks, I’m guessing as you say lots of trim off. I’ll get the wooden spoons back out! My friend has done similar repairs on a Superb and tells me the loom is tightly bound. We’ll see soon enough. I suppose it’ll depends on what I find to the extent of repair needed, fingers crossed.
  10. After a bit of prodding this evening it appears to be a broken wire or wires in the top left hand loom flex. Now all I’ve got to go is work out how to access the break and repair / replace the loom. I can’t leave it for too long as there’s a risk of further breaks and possible shorting / failure of other boot parts.
  11. @Forty45 I’ve changed the boot latch too previously when the white plastic worm drive sheared (common issue), the latch is the easy bit, and as you say the unclipping is the issue. I used wooden spoons😀 Everything worked OK after. Again it’s accessing the parts without stripping the car to pieces or snapping plastic tabs off. I’m an electrical / electronic engineer by trade but cars are something else…
  12. Same issue last night, no boot lights but removable / rechargeable lamp comes on very dimly so connection to boot lock ground seems OK. Glove box light working, but no live at boot lights. Earth OK. Can’t see the diode but I suspect that it’s the culprit or a dodgy connection. Maxidot can’t see boot status anymore. SWMBO reported the lights flickering before failure. I don’t have the precise electrical drawing. Well you could blow me down with a feather! Just checked this morning and the light is working again and the maxidot can see it. The live to the boot light is switched on this model and the earth is permanent. The issue now is the removable torch stays dim when the boot is closed, the torch appears OK as I swapped it with the Kodiaq and it’s just the same. Now to get the torch holder out and investigate this.
  13. Had SWMBO Yeti repaired by an excellent PDR guy in Birmingham, relieved he got the dent out without the need for paint. It was palm sized right on the edge of the door and he had to glue pull it. So skilled, you can’t see anything left of the dent. I’ve ordered a replacement stone chip foil, a job for the new year. Someone at her works car park had dented the door and driven off😟 but that’s already posted in what annoyed you today!
  14. Never mind, when the fog clears we can spend days following people who don’t know how to turn the rear ones off…..
  15. I don’t believe it….. Stopped an old dear from backing her tangerine mini into my car yesterday whilst she was parallel parking in front of me with a well timed “Oi”, she was less than 10mm from the front of my car when she stopped, and seemed most unconcerned and bumbled off mumbling something about a prescription (sadly not for her eyes), she had unrestricted access to the front of her car so no need to keep backing up but sadly no parking sensors at the rear, she must of had difficulty seeing my tiny Kodiaq looming large filling her rear view mirrors. Felt somewhat relieved that I’d prevented some parking unpleasantness (I’m sure she’s have tootled off oblivious), but this morning I looked at SWMBO Yeti and some kind person (sometime this week - thanks to dark evenings and mornings) we presume in the NHS hospital staff car park where she works, has left her an early Christmas present by reshaping the rear near side door with their bumper right on the door crease / stone guard (palm size dent). I know a fantastic PDR guy who thinks he can get it back out, but he told me it’s really tricky. Checked the Nextbase dash cam just in case I could identify the silver transgressor (kindly left some paint behind) - and it had filled the SD card with “protected” files so hadn’t been recording for the last month - It only had one job to do😡 I try to keep the cars nice and park away from others, so does my better half, but it’s not always possible. I know there’s lots more serious things to worry about (we certainly do have) but it’s really annoying how little respect some people have for others property. I’m beginning to feel a bit like Victor Meldrew……….. Hanlon’s razor - “never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity” Rant over.
