  1. When I had manual cars I always started the engine after depressing the clutch pedal as it saves the starter motor the extra strain of pushing against the idler gear. Maybe I'be just old school.
  2. Same here but I would like an option to activate the heated screen (added option) and or screen blower, mirror heaters and rear window heat with one button (when the car is frozen first thing in the morning) as well as activating them individually. Not a biggie for me but would be a nice to have I guess.
  3. Like you I've never felt the need to change the wiper blades on a new or ex demo car ever, I hope that it's either the OEMs are old stock/faulty batch or that the react badly to the windscreen coating residue on a new screen. Looking at my old wipers they look identical to the Bosch ones but without Bosch name. Certainly worth changing over though as so far the difference has been like night and day. This is really the only real irritation I've had from the new car. If that's all I still really rate the Karoq. Peace returns inside the car in the rain instead of the wiper farting competition that I lived with for a while.
  4. I have noticed this once, I'd guess that it may occur when there is no mobile voice or data coverage available as this can change quite a lot depending on mobile traffic, the greater the mobile traffic the weaker the cell coverage. If I recall correctly the mobile cell base station coverage decreased in proportion to its usage in a 3G (UMTS/WCDMA) environment, I'm not totally sure about LTE 4G/5G though as I've been away from the telecommunication world for a few years, Anyway I don't recall if it regained signal later in my journey but is has not occurred since. It could be the Bluetooth connection of course timing out but I'd assume it should be looking for an and to end signal rather than just connecting to an access point. I could be talking complete garbage though as who knows what the techy bods are up to at VAG. I'll keep a bloodshot beady eye on it thou and update if I see it again..
  5. Advance warning, post off topic I know the feeling Robjon. Although I ride a bike little these days it just seems backwards so I'm pleased my car has the paddles. I remember the pre-unit Meriden Triumphs and Nortons/BSA that had the gear shift on the right, that must have been fun for a modern bike rider riding a classic who wants to use the rear brake and crash the gearbox an hopefully not the bike. Oddly the position of the side stand stayed in the left that makes the bike lean into the traffic in areas that drive on the right, not a good idea if the road has a pronounced 'crown' in the middle as the bike may not lean enough on the stand and blow over. End of off topic post.
  6. Thank you silver1011, that clears it up for me. I do hear the auto lock activate when driving off but wasn't sure about exterior access for instance in the case of accident where access is required from outside the vehicle but I guess if I read the manual as you state in normal conditions the tea leaves can't just pop in. Note to self, read the manual before comments on things that may be in the manual. I now have a PDF copy downloaded so have little excuse in the future. Thanks again
  7. At least to my admittedly very limited knowledge of KESSY the car locking by key fob or in the car it should reduce the chance of some tea leaf opening a door and wandering off with your shopping when stuck in traffic if the boot is full, or for that matter opening the tailgate... just a thought 🙂
  8. Err.. yes it will but maybe not as huge although as a 2WD on winter tyres tyres factoring in the different 4WD modes of the 4x4 cars. Now put winters on a 4WD thats another story as you correctly state.
  9. So far my Edition 1.5 DSG 4x4 (not currently available now) delivered during the early summer months I get late 30s in the autumn (less so in the summer when it was new and the AC was on overdrive) dipping to the lower to mid 30s now in winter. That's what Id expect given the extra weight and drag on the 4x4 system. My driving i0 mile round commute is 1/2 motorway and 1/2 urban in Bristol and with the constant roadworks I think it's not that bad.
  10. I've recently changed all wiper blades on my car as even after cleaning etc they would still being very vocal in a short time. I got the following from a certain online store: Bosch A864S Aerotwin Wiperblade Set, 650/450 mm front BOSCH Aerotwin Heckwischblatt A331H - Länge 330 mm rear So far silence from both but we will see how things go...
  11. OK I have the DSG box in my car, in normal mode I can often see the (ECO) symbol in the centre display between the dials also showing D7 gear that is not changed to E7 (in eco drive mode) when I'm showing current speed. If I change to a different option to display for instance average economy then I get the test two cylinder mode appear on the display. I can quite often see this at motorway speeds but more so if I have ACC on.
  12. I got fed up with my farting wiper blades, cleaned the screen and wipers that was OK for a little while, I ordered some Bosch ones yet to arrive to see if they are any better, I'll post an update when I've fitted them after some rain journeys.
  13. 4 x 4 models have a wet DSG clutch if I recall correctly.. even on the smaller petrol engines ....but things change..... but I may have been fed duff information,,,
  14. If the rear screen is damp (read wet inside as Silver1011 stated) it will take a long time to clear as you describe, if just misted I'd expect it to clear after a few minutes. After a short time if you see the horizontal lines clearing stripes first then the window heater is functioning. Personally in over 35 years driving I've not seen an instant solution to rear window demist... Now if they had used the same tech as the heated front screen that would be a different story, but I guess it costs more.
  15. During the summer I was getting high 30s with my 4 x 4 1.5 however with cooler temperatures I'm looking at low to mid 30s but there are more road works to deal with in Bristol so that will have an effect although my early morning run to be in the office at around 6:30 (before the owls and bats turn in) with less traffic it's still a few mpg worse off to be expected. AC is always on.
