  1. Two weeks ago they said they needed to order the parts, gave me no ETA other than a week or two. Tomorrow will be week two. My argument is, as others have said water pumps aren't a rare part and surely it doesn't take two weeks to source one. I can get one online for next day delivery!
  2. Hi all, it's been a long time since I posted here and I'm running out of ideas and pulling my hair out. Settle yourselves in... Jan 14th of this year, I thought I'd got myself a bargain, I bought a Octavia VRS 2016, white, estate. Absolutely loved it. It looked brand new, not a single mark on it. It had done what I thought was a reasonable 65k in that time. Full service history (part dealer, part third party.) it also had the water pump and timing belt changed. Nothing else I could find was even close to that level of service history, mileage etc. Two weeks later, I saw the dreaded engine management light. It still drove absolutely fine on the way back home, but obviously not knowing what was wrong I stopped driving it. I'd only done about 240 miles in those two weeks if that. Contacted the dealership (Perrys Barnsley) and told them, they were quick to help and got me to contact my local Perrys to get booked in. (TWO weeks later) so I was without a car for those two weeks as I didn't want to drive it with an unknown fault and cause more damage. Got told the OBD codes were showing Glow Plug 2 and Water Pump and that they'd need to order those parts from Skoda. I had to fight for a courtesy car, which I could only keep over the weekend. This went back last Monday. Here I am with no car, they will have had it now two weeks tomorrow. No update, no nothing. I keep trying with Perrys Barnsley about what's going on but I am not really getting much back. I checked my documents for the car and can see the waterpump was replaced at 57k miles in March 2022. Absolutely no way it's gone already surely? And even if it had it can't take two weeks to source a water pump? (bear in mind, there is a Skoda garage literally next door to my local Perrys). What is your take on this?
  3. This is like watching one of those videos of what happens to the cows at an abattoir before they end up a big Mac! Poor car. :(
  4. I picked up my Cupra on Friday, the dealer Westgate Seat who are also joined with Skoda were lovely I even got a massive bunch of flowers. The car is fantastic, so much fun to drive. I love the Leon Cupra looks wise it just seems to drive like a tank in comparison to the Ibiza!
  5. I find it sad we still live in a world where its still considered abnormal or immoral to be anything other than straight. Something we should shield our young from... It's a very backwards and old fashioned opinion in my mind. As someone mentioned earlier, children are exposed to all manner of influential and potentially harmful things, music and the videos that occupany them promoting drugs, sex, gun crime, violence... Women demeaning themselves, girating half naked up against men etc. Please don't take my word for it, go and look and listen to the video for Anaconda by Nikki Minaj. http://www.metrolyrics.com/anaconda-lyrics-nicki-minaj.html This was being played on mainstream radio, video blasting out whenever on music channels. You tell me that kind of message isn't more harmful than god forbid, two blokes love each other. And let us not forget the things they have access to when they go online.
  6. Ahhh you learn something new every day! I didn't know that at all! I see many people drive this way. And for y'all who are taking the mick out of me saying ten to two, that's what my late driving instructor used to say! Barmy old fellow, somethings just stuck with me.
  7. Pah, never attempted makeup in the car, the rides too bumpy and wouldn't want to smudge it if someone makes me jump pipping at me. So inconsiderate. My boyfriend tells me off for not driving ten to two. I drive with one hand on the steering wheel, one on the gearstick. Yet he has admitted to driving with his knees!! And has texted whilst driving. Double standards or what.
  8. Dear God. If it helps I know a guy in Mansfield who might be able to help. My other half who I met as a uni student, who had a somewhat lacking sense of smell has a clapped out Corsa that he doubled up as a waste disposal unit. The smell got so bad that I could only describe it as rotting flesh, it actually made me heave. I took it to Jon from Finishing Touch Automotive, who is a friend of mine also (although has grounds not to be after being presented with that) and did a wonderful job. He had to renovate it as well because my fella thoight he was dead artistic and spray painted skulls on the roof, destroyed the door cards and just generally ruined it. It's actually sellable now! Dirty filthy boy!! My car however... If there is so much ad a receipt chucked in the back seat, he will be getting out and walking.
  9. Yep twin charged, 3 door, just over a year old, in red. Full leather interior, sat nav, voice controlled Bluetooth, auto lights and wipers. Winter pack so heated seats (thank God!) heated washers. Reverse parking sensors. (don't think I'll be needing them in such a tiny car!) Only small downside for me is the 7 speed DSG gearbox. Never been a big fan of auto's but it's the way things seem to be going. No manual option for the Ibiza Cupra. :( I almost feel like it's cheating and lazy! I like to be in control of the gear change. But it was amazing to drive, chilled and comfortable when you want to plod along and very fun when you want to play!
  10. I'm picking up an Ibiza Cupra tomorrow. Replacing my Rapid, as much as I like my Rapid, it wasn't Rapid! On paper 1 second slower 0-60 than the Leon Cupra coming in at 6.9, and the same on paper as the TFSI Octavia which is 40bhp more. Literally can't wait. The Polo for me just didn't have it looks wise, and I just can't bring myself to buy a Clio!
  11. I think I payed exactly the same! Although I love mine. No rattling, no problems better than my Fabia and it was brand new! Something I thought I would never be able to buy as I grew up watching my mum and dad scrape together pennies to buy old Vauxhall Cavaliers which needed replacing every MOT. So I'm happy!
  12. Does sound like cruise control, almost as if it was automatically setting. Can't say I've ever noticed it myself, surely if the car was still maintaining speed without your foot on the pedal this is not something to be brushed off as a "product enhancement" or whatever... It's a "this need to come back in now..." It's very dangerous!
  13. Looks like the Rapids boring uncle. Seats are nice not to dissimilar from the Cupra looks like a mix of suede and leather. But what's the point if the exterior looks the same? Least put some bloomin' decent alloys on it and may a spoiler. Pft.
  14. I disagree Chris somewhat... Sat Navs that offer some warning allows the driver to slow down safely if they are deviating from the speed limit as it draws their attention with sound, and as we all know how easy it can be to deviate. Personally I'd rather be keeping my eyes on the road and doing 35 than constantly diverting my eyes to the speedo. Whereas if there is no warning, and someone catches the yellow fiends too late... What is the reaction? They will slam on. Sometimes regardless of whether or not they are speeding as they don't have time to check and slow down so they slow down regardless. I see it all the time people doing 30 will slow down to mid 20s. My Columbus doesn't warn me, not a big deal. But I have found it useful before when I had a stick on one.
  15. I don't have any kind of knocking or noisy gearbox? Mines silent and I have the 6 speed manual Rapid Sport. Sorry to hear you've had to reject your car. :( mines been fantastic to be honest, but I can see why you'd loose faith.
  16. If it eases your mind my dealer when trying to source the surround for my Columbus told me the same, said he didn't even think it fit and wouldn't be able to get a surround for it. Needless to say... It does fit... And I could get the right surrounding.
  17. Toyota Yaris this morning on my way to work!
  18. Granted!! But like I said in my previous post to the other guy, leg length can vary so that can account for a 5ft woman sitting closer to the steering wheel than another 5ft woman and indeed a 5ft man. I know a few other women the same height as me and none of our leg lengths are the same. Also, men tend to be taller so it's unusual to see a man sit so close to the steering wheel.
  19. Wow someone's touchy... No you didn't say *all* but disect at your previous comment... You said you disliked women (not people) who sit too close to the steering wheel... Does stature not enter into your narrow minded consideration? If someone is 5 ft and under which isn't unusual in women I know many... They will tend to have short legs. People come in all shapes and sizes, and leg length can also vary regardless of height. So your bug bare (which was entirely aimed at women) is short women who have the unfortunate disadvantage that her legs aren't very long and she has to pull the seat forward. Now you tell me if that's justified. Tell you what my bug bare is, pig headed people.
  20. You don't buy the shorter legs excuse? What? My aunt is 4ft11 and has to sit very close to the steering wheel or she can't reach the pedals, that is that. Clearly must be infuriating for you! What's the size of our 'fat arses' got to do with anything either? Would you prefer us to tie things to our shoes? And I guess it's ok for a bloke who is short in stature (cos it's not out the realm of impossibility) to sit close to the steering wheel? Cos he's not 'steering with his tits'. Good lord, can see why there is so many feminazis out there.
  21. I bought mine from Sat_nav_deals on eBay. Around £500 do make them an offer though because I got a bit of money knocked off. really easy fit and I love it. I took mine to Skoda and gave them what they needed to program into the VCDS for maxidot, and despite them coming out and saying they couldn't do it and had to roll back it now works! So a nice freebie.
  22. I replaced my Swing with a Columbus. Easy peasy. Haven't got DAB, but historically every car I've been in with DAB it's been crap and I would rather be on FM.
  23. They're just not to my taste aesthetically is all! I prefer the look of the Rapid. Didn't mean to cause offence :p just defending my Rapid! Me envious? Of what?
  24. Don't forget to do your makeup in the mirrors whilst driving also. that's what they were put there for, weren't they? :P
  25. Yep, it was a good deal for a brand new car, and it's what I could afford at the time. If I had a spare 25/30k obviously it would have been a different story. But nonetheless, I quite like my Rapid. Could be worse, could be a Roomster.
