  1. Hi , I recently bought a 1.6 cr tdi dsg , 2012 with 41,000 miles , it was terrible to drive with the clutch judder and slipping in 2 nd , I returned it to the dealer who gave me a full refund (Arnold Clark ) the thing is I've had skodas for years and want another is there a better dsg to go for ? Does the new ones have the sameness problems or does the 2.0 share the same dry clutch ? Any advice grateful please tony
  2. garage that done the work prepared to look at the car but cannot gaurantee that it is a fault of theres so in limbo with do a take it to them and risk them charge me more money ?
  3. hi guys . im after some advice on this one please , bought a 58 plate mk 1 in january guy i bought it from said dont worry about timing belt it was changed 25,000 miles ago , anyhow driving up to aberdeen , car cut out , heard a few noises and knew the worst . got a garage that i know nout about apart from it was close by and my mate said they were decent . i live in newcastle and was visiting family , anyhow 3 weeks later got car back , head went to engine recon shop which i had to arange . car was running spot on , £360 for head skimmed new valves gaskets etc . and a whopping £935 labour from garage this was also for timing belt kit water pump oil n coolant do the next again week noticed oil drips on drive way on further inspection noticed oil coming from head gasket area . but yet cooland orange and oil fine , ive clocked 4000 miles since and the oil is leaking externally . not mixing or nor is the car over heating or running badly .. i got veedubs a local skoda and vw expert to check it and he said its down to the garage who fitted it back together . it was the oil return low pressue channel that was leaking , now what do i do??? run it the way it is and hope it dosent get worse . or take it back to aberdeen 230 miles away and take the chance that they dont find a fault that they may say wasnt there fault , as they have alreay told me that if its there error they would cover it if not id have to pay £££££ or do i get veedubs to tackle it , or do i try a stop leak product , any advice would be great as i dont know whats best to do . Tony
  4. gearbox went at 300 thousand got it reconed still smooth after 200 thousand , on 4 th clutch , but nout major never touched engine , fuel system , still original steering rack / pump / starter / never had a dash light on , just really replaced servicable items ie track rod ends , ball joints , etc my advice to any won keeping a skoda a long time always use tps genuine parts . ive tried the cheap components they dont last .
  5. north tyneside 53 plate sdi 501,488 miles :-)
  6. ye i think il drop them a line , mine is in better condition than that one and everything works as it should , still got original parts exhaust, engine, starter, interior, one shockie osf, and all power steering , fuel system all original , skodas are built to last :-) love them .
  7. great video :-)) ive only 11,200 to go to beat that miles , think skoda would take it back ??
  8. hmmm doubt glow plugs , fuel feed i would say . once fuel flowing starts no probs , when did you last change filter ?
  9. ive changed a lot of belts / kits on the sdi engine , and every belt has been almost unmarked near perfect , its normally a water pump or pulley that goes . whats the car worth ? a kit and pump £130 or so , 4 hours labour . weight it up . :-)
