  1. I have a 2012 Elegance with Columbus. I have used a 4, 4S and 5S with the unit, all ok. The 5S can be temperamental, I reset the Columbus as already suggested which cured the initial pairing problem and the phone paired ok. If it doesn't find the phone do a hard reset on the phone, I get this occasionally and this does the trick.
  2. I purchased from Colbournes Skoda in Guildford and had an extremely poor service, I now use Garlands Skoda in Aldershot. They are part of the Whinchester group, very good service.
  3. KB - Thanks for the reply, its a shame especially as its tow car of the year!
  4. I have the Columbus Sat Nav. Having used a Garmin before when towing or driving larger vehicles I was able to select settings that prevented the system from using single track roads etc. I have checked settings in the columbus and the manual but cant find anything similar. Having just returned from a week in North Cornwall with a teenage daughter who cant read a map and a caravan it would be useful! Any ideas?
  5. Thanks for the the replies. Seems like its the system and not a fault. Its going back (again) for a new rear light cluster that is letting water in so I will get them to check it for me as a precaution.
  6. I have read all the posts on this but cant find a definitive answer, hence this post. I have a 2012 170 cr 4x4 with the dual digital climate control. Compared to my previous car which had a BMW system it is very erratic. On Auto its sensitivity to cabin temperature seems to be non existent at times blowing warm air when it patently should be cooling the cabin down. On other occasions, even with the dual climate function off it sometimes blows warm air through one side and cold through the other. I can see on here that others have had similar issues. The only advice seems to be to turn it off and then turn it on again which seems to work. The BMW system I had before was set to 20 day in and day out and maintained that temp. Is this a fault with my car or something they all do to a greater or lesser degree? If it is a fault has anyone had it rectified? Cheers. John
  7. Thanks for the replies. Car was back with the dealers today and a new module was fitted plus an interogation by Skoda technical. It is now working and has been demonstrated to me. The information on here was very valuable! Cheers.
  8. Cheers - As I suspected. Makes you sick when they are charging twice the price!
  9. I have CR 170 4x4 hatchback which I recently purchased from a main dealer to tow a caravan. I had a Skoda tow bar fitted by the supplying dealer here in Surrey and have had issues from day one. The rear bumper was not fitted back on correctly, a fixing was left off causing it to vibrate on the body work and the detachable tow bar swan neck that they supplied was broken. The also managed to scratch the bodywork. I returned a second time as the reversing sensors picked up the swan neck, I was told that this was normal and that the sensors are only disabled when a trailer is attached but they assured me that the system had been checked. In fact I asked three times and was assured three times! Yesterday I drove 250 miles to collect the new caravan, hitched up and found that although the electrics on the van worked the reversing sensors were not disabled and the columbus unit doesn't show a graphic indicating it has detected a trailer. I also suspect that there is an issue with the 13 pin socket as it doesn't appear to be giving a charge for the habitation battery. Its back to the dealer again tomorrow. I just want to be clear that a) The reversing sensors WILL detect the swan neck / tow ball when there is no trailer attached and The reversing sensors will be disabled when a trailer is attached and that a graphic will appear on the columbus unit when reverse is engaged c) Should there be an additional audible warning for the indicators (caravan dealer suggests there should be) I have now put the payment for this in dispute with the credit card company due to the level of service and written to the dealers and Skoda formally complaining about this and issues with another warranty claim and sales process (Financial Services and GAP Insurance). Skoda have washed their hands of it passing full responsibility to the dealer which surprised me when they pride themselves on customer service. Cheers
  10. Gents - Thanks for the reassurance on this. John
  11. Thanks - This is it - I did search but didn't find this ! Cheers. John
  12. Hi - I have a CR170 4x4 manual for about a month now. I have noticed that when pulling out of junctions IE from stationary on a tight lock the car jolts or 'coughs'. I can't be sure if its transmission or something to do with the power delivery / throttle. It doesn't happen if I accelerate hard out of the turn. My thoughts were that it might be something to do with the 4x4 engaging of disengaging or the throttle. The question for the forum is has anyone else experienced this and is it normal. Cheers John
  13. Hi John - I am only going by what the independent fitters told me, and it may be wrong, that even if it was bypassed with a relay it needed a software update. I have now booked mine in to Skoda as I wasn't inspired with confidence from even the major after market suppliers. One major supplier who has local agents who do the fitting even said they could fit the towbar but the car would still have to go to Skoda for the software update this brought the fitting charge to more than just going to Skoda in the first place. As I said in the first post I am no expert, the other posts have more experience around this than me. Good Luck!
  14. Hi John - I am no expert but have recently been looking at fitting a tow bar to my superb. I have been comparing the Skoda fitted system to an after market system and possible DIY. My understanding so far is the Skoda system is wired from the fuse box and by passes the car electrics altogether i.e. its a separate loom. The aftermarket systems involve a separate relay, again by passing the car electrics. All fitters including Skoda stated the car required a software upgrade to avoid issues with the can bus electrics irrespective of how it wired in. It doesn't answer your question but be very careful about chopping directly into the electrics.
  15. Had the coolant checked again today and its down so looks like a leak from somewhere. Its going in thursday.
