  1. Used it to form the top of the E in "YETI", on a hill overlooking the Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon...
  2. Funnily enough, on the way into the Heritage Motor Centre this morning there was a Mk3 Vauxhall Astra directly ahead of me. It stopped when it reached the steward, and the driver was having a seemingly-interminable conversation with him determining whether to carry straight on towards the show-parking area or turn left into the visitors' car park. Eventually, it pulled off to the left, and I moved forward to speak to the steward. The first thing he said to me was "I wish the Skoda and Vauxhall badges didn't look so bloomin' similar!"
  3. It's a well-known fact that you can park absolutely anywhere with impunity, so long as you put your hazards on. Or at least you'd think so, living in London.
  4. It's OK, I had my hazard lights on...
  5. Although it seems one has been spotted in the Morse spin-off, Lewis... More here, but no starring roles.
  6. I'll be there. Will aim to join any convoy I can find heading up the A40/M40...
  7. Probably owned by the same lady that owns this one:
  8. Those were just offered as examples of things that can generally be relied upon to be perpendicular (unlike Jim H's dad, it seems...). I suppose it would be rather churlish of me to point out that all three Briskodians that submitted off-road shots also included lamp posts or sign posts in their photos. Anyway, that's my last word on the matter. The challenge is over and done and a new one has been set. Let the griping cease.
  9. At no point did the challenge setter state that this had to be achieved on a public road. Three people realised what was required - they just didn't manage to find a slope that was steep enough.
  10. Time to declare chrisw880 the winner for his sterling effort, which came closest to the required angle of 30 degrees. Honourable mentions to BossFox and Blackline Stu for also thinking outside the box. Well done to Jim H and pikachu24 for trying, but to be fair this challenge was never going to be achievable on a public road. What was really needed was some kind of ramp: Alternatively, although the challenge said "parked", I would have accepted an entry from anyone who'd been brave enough to try this: Mind you, it could all have ended in tears... But I take my hat off to this guy!
  11. The challenge was set on Friday morning. I believe the rules allow members a week to post their attempts, and I've already said I'll declare a winner if no-one manages it by then.
  12. Can't award a pedant's badge to someone who uses four dots to form an ellipsis, spells "after all" as though it were one word, fails to use an apostrophe in "pedant's" and fails to use a question mark when posing a question.
  13. Yes, trick photography and photoshopping are out - this is a challenge for you and your car, not your camera or software skills. Of the entries so far, this is how we're doing: Grey = the target angle of 30 degrees Dark red = chrisw880 Blue = Blackline Stu Red = BossFox And for comparison only, as the the camera angles don't really allow proper measurement: Black = Jim H Yellow = pikachu24
  14. I love the way your dad is standing at an angle in the first pic to make the car's angle look even more steep! However, as per post #1866 above, a 1 in 3 gradient will never give you an angle of 30 degrees, so at the moment Chrisw880 is still top banana.
  15. That's a damn good effort, and is not too far off 30 degrees. In with a chance, if nobody finds a steeper slope...
  16. Interesting thread, especially as I found myself on the horns of a "Yeti or Evoque" dilemma in January, before I was a member here. Back then, I elicited the advice of the Mercedes-Benz Club forum, and by post #71 (!) I'd placed my order for the Yeti. Here's the thread for those that are interested in seeing how MB owners viewed the comparison: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/145117-any-evoque-owners.html
  17. Well, if nobody's got it by the 7-day deadline, I'll give it to the person who's achieved the greatest measurable angle. Looks like BossFox is in the lead so far.
  18. No, that would be a 33.3% slope, so around 16 degrees. I'm looking for 30 degrees, which is a gradient of around 1 in 1.7. Tough, but not impossible.
  19. Sorry pikachu24, but there's nothing in your photos to indicate that you got anywhere close to a 30-degree (57.7%) incline.
  20. If you can show that the car is actually parked at the required angle, then that will be sufficient to win. And I will admit that 30o is proving to be a little steeper than I originally imagined, though I still believe it's achievable (especially if you happen to have a 4wd Yeti, it seems).
