Thanks very much, by the serrated cable I guess you mean the one that can go in several different slots in the handle, it is short and fits back into the lock? Well, I think you could be onto something, because before when I opened the door the handle would come out a few mm before pulling the cable. Now as I open the door their is no play, it it quite tight. So I will loosen it a few teeth first. I personaly haven't had window opening enabled, but have read a thread if you hold key in open position using fob it will open the windows, so as I had never tried that Im not sure. And I will make sure the door card is off, having no way of opening the door at all last week I was ready to scrap the car!! Its been a very expensive year, new turbo and steering rack plus window reg and door lock.. But carefully hitting the door by the lock whilst using the key opened it eventualy, this might help someone one day. By the way I fitted a new window regulator before I fitted the new lock, and the problen only arose when the new lock was fitted and I didnt need to touch the electrics for that. Hi, had exactly the same with mine, the car had been standing so long with previous owner, and they just got so slow until they stopped. So I took the whole mechanism out, the scuttle is really fiddly, and stripped it down, the shaft the arms connect to had completely seized, and I had to use heat to get them apart. I cleaned up the sleve and shafts with wet and dry and Wd40, re packed it with grease and vasseline, that was 3 yrs ago. Took about an hour.

I recently stupidly locked myself in my Octavia,pressing the keyfob. Rather than just pressing it again to open, I pulled the handle, snapped the cable inside and deadlocked the lock...expensive mistake..so I got an aftermarket lock and cable...all fitted and works great, however sometimes when I lock the door, (with keyfob)it sounds like the solenoid does another bzz and all the windows open ! Bit worrying the first time to come back to the car and find all the windows open.. I have been sent a new lock, but before I go to all that trouble again, has anybody any ideas if it could be anything else like a loose wire or mebe the lock not fitted correctly?

Thanks guys, defo the turbo gone, just weighing up wheather its worth doing, turbo labour , egr clean out and my cambelt is due..... but the car is imaculate.

Help, think my turbo just gone, 1.9tdi,X reg, has been noisy for years, with a wa wa wa sound on the throttle off, but the last week it has had a metalic sound coupled with the car being very slow and juddery when cold, I wasnt to worried as ive had it before 3 times and its cleared itself with some turbo cleaner, not this time, the noise turned into a loud whistle, thought the cops were after me,,, then loud grinding noise, then limp mode... still drives, no turbo, and no smoke???? Any ideas, and jf it it turbo, how much am I looking at? The car is well maintained , black elegance .... thanks any help would be great

Also there is a new product ive found that will clean the vanes without any dismantling. Ill post some more info v soon

Hi sorry for delay. Can you decribe the noise? Mines come back again now. Mainly when its cold or just started from hot. Its worse in third if you accelerate hard. Its almost a metalic wa wa wa sound and the engine stutters or coughs when it does it.

Hi. Well a turn up for the books this morning , pulls like a train. No noise no juddering no coughing, and a sweet turbo whistle.. When she got hot there was a bit of resistance in third and a grumble from the turbo Im going to check all the pipework incase there is a crack that opens more when its hot..

Thanks mate tbh, I hate looking under the bonnet......Ill fix any petol car like my granada, but this scares me....which pipes do I check and where. Update..... the noise is now louder and when i throttle down the engine seenes to shake as well, not badly. Giving a run last week helped....
