Not 100% happy but it doesn't make me want to swear every time I walk past it, to get in the car of a morning. Before After

Changed the cabin filter on mine last month. Cover is missing. As it's not really visible without getting down under there, I haven't ordered a new one.

It's been off air for three years, but Tiff has started filming the new season this week. -
I sh**t myself taking out the passenger airbag to change the heater resistor. I'd be shying away from doing this myself too.
-
I'm told that there is no clutch mechanism on the ac units in these cars. The compressor is always running, so you won't hear a dip in rpm when you push the ac button. I had similar issue last month. A re-gas sorted it out just fine. Well worth the 39 quid it cost. My advice, take it for a re-gas. At the very least if there's something else wrong, they will at least be able to diagnose it for you.
-
Let us know how you get on. I'm also running Version 4 and yes it does not recognise any new roads. I fear that voice stammer will not be solved with the update, but hopefully you will find your way.

Yes the Diamond cut Gigaros already have some signs of lacquer peel and corrosion, as well as some rim damage due to kerbs etc. I was considering getting the refurbished or doing something different with them.
-
Courtesy of Jonny5ive, I fitted a set of 17" Kentuar Alloys to my VRS Combi. The plan is to fit winters to them, but there's plenty of rubber left in the tyres that are on them. Opinions? Original Gigaro's or Kentuars?

Is it the bit that covers the cabin filter?
-
Did the resistor myself a few weeks back. The airbag out was putting me off too, but it's not a hard job, a bit fiddley. Airbag didn't explode. As well as uncoupling the battery, I also turned the air bag off with the key switch on the end of the dash, in at the passenger door. Resistor comes out kind of like a light bulb.

I'm going to be trying this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00CXMBIZ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I haven't done a touch up job in decades, so will post some results (before and after) and comments when I get around to it.

I can only go off what my garage was saying, but apparently the HFO 1234yf (thanks for the code Rum4mo), started being used in 2012 ish. Impact on the environment maybe less, but still 6 years later, impact on your wallet seems out of juxtapose at nearly 3 times the cost. I understand in the beginning, not all garages were equipped, trained etc. but surely by now most are. Is the gas itself really that much more?
-
Yes this is the correct gas - had my 2012 Vrs re-gassed 2 weekends ago at my local garage. For this gas was £39, For the "F" gas I don't know the code, but it's allegedy for newer models it would have been £108. Needless to say, I was relieved when the bill was £39........Oh and it worked. Hope yours does too.

advice needed - engine management light
67Mark replied to iggypop37's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Engine management lights can come up for many a reason. Had a similar issue with my mk1 1.2 HTP, turned out to be the sensor for the temperature gauge. Only tracked it down as it started getting harder and harder to start when the engine was hot. Of course I didn't have the benefit of VCDS. Just resetting the lamp will have no effect on what caused it to light up in the 1st place. As others have mentioned though, the flickering oil light is of greater concern. Low oil pressure will kill an engine, no matter how low the miles are. -
Probably cheaper to replace the whole bumper. Could probably fit it yourself, but painting etc......... If your lucky you might find a red one on Fleabay
-
My mk1 1.2 HTP 2004 had rolled past 150000 km without many issues, before I sold her in 2016. There should be plenty of life in the old girl yet. Gone but not forgotted

Quick update. Re-gassed this morning. Air conditioning works fine now. No need to fit the 2nd resistor, so all's well. Thanks all for the input. Gonna put in a fresh cabin filter this weekend, hopefully this will help stop the new resistor failing.
-
No Hissing noises, I haven't really touched the pipes. Will take it for a re-gas and see what happens.

A small bump on this thread, sorry. When I got the car, neither the AC or fan speeds 1,2 or 3 worked. I just changed the resistor pack and all fan speeds now work. However, Air con lights up, but doesn't do anything. I was wondering if I'd put in the wrong part number (6Q0959263 6Q0959263A) and have ordered the one that specifies for a/c models. Should I wait for that to arrive and fit that, or just go straight for getting an AC serviced with the resistor I have already fitted?

Is the skoda fabia vrs mk2 178 or 180 bhp?
67Mark replied to New2this's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
You need to turn the stereo up to 11 (unfortunately playing Enya) to hold the echo contained for maximum performance. They forgot to put those weights hidden behind the back bumper on the estate models? -

Don't you always have the rear seats folded down in an estate anyway?
