My 66 plate 1.2 Petrol Fabia DSG is due for it's annual service & MOT in early Feb 2022. My dealership tells me that the cam-belt & water pump should be changed. It's only done 7,400 miles so far. Would our experts on here have it done? Thanks.

Hi Richard, seeing as this thread's not clogged up yet I thought I'd just say, DON'T have it done under any circumstances. It doesn't have to be done & I'm not having mine done, no way. I've had the letter a couple of weeks ago & I'm ignoring it. Mines running great & that's the way it's gonna stay.

Just received a letter from Skoda UK this morning telling me it's now time to have the EA 189 NOx emissions part fitted. Anyone else received this letter, not sure if I wanted it done. What's the general consensus?

They just said that it was a software update.

just about understood the last paragraph lol. It was NOT the FIX, I asked about that & they'd no info about it. There is a separate thread on here about the fix & I check it regularly.

I was at my local Skoda dealers, RRG Rochdale yesterday getting a couple of new tyres & they told me there was a recall, issued last week, for a software update for the gearbox (mine is a DSG). I told them to do it whilst I was there. Anyone else had that call?

What happens if you haven't had it done & the MOT rules are changed? Will Skoda turn round & say "Well, you should have had it done when you had the chance" It's now going to cost you £XXX. I called in the dealers that I got my Rapid from (Simpsons Colne) last Saturday & asked about the fix. They said that there hadn't been any Rapids recalled yet, so God knows when it'll happen.

I've just received yet another letter from Skoda UK today (17/10/16) that tells me nothing. Basically "We've not forgotten you" & something might get done in Jan next year. My Rapid is running perfectly (touch wood!) at the moment but will need the new part fitting, the question is, do I have it done?

I'm here from Bury, we've always been part of Lancashire. Sod that Greater Manchester stuff.

Coming back from Surrey to Bury last Sept I was getting over 77mpg from my Diesel 1'6 Rapid, so it can be done.

I got the letter a few days ago. Told me nothing I didn't already know. Mine is one of those that will need the new part fitting, so I will just have to wait for yet another letter. I think it's supposed to be done in October.

Not in PSI it isn't, that's why I had to ask.

Hi, When i bought my 14 Plate Rapid se DSG I asked the dealership for the correct tyre pressure & was told 32 psi all round.

I'd forgotten about it being a DSG, even better! BTW you know who I am, 1'6 Rio Red DSG, welcome to the DSG club.

No use looking on the fuel flap, it doesn't give figures in PSI.. When I bought my Rapid I asked the salesman & he didn't know & had to ask a mechanic who said, "32 PSI all round."

How will that affect my 1.6 Rapid, performance wise?

For those of us with the 1.6 TDi engine that price would start & end at ZERO

Yes, you're probably right. The very least that Skoda UK should offer is a guarantee that no one will lose out money wise, when they come to sell the vehicle.

Compensated? I should bloody well hope so! Those of us that have the 1.6Tdi should be offered the option of being given a BRAND NEW car of the same spec. Mr Willis said that It's important to regain customer confidence again, well that's the best way of getting it in my opinion. Who knows what the re-sale value will be in the years ahead.

Here's a scenario for you, in a few years time, when you come to change your car the dealer says," It's not had the upgrade work has it? I won't touch this wi' a bargepole & neither will any other dealer. You won't be able to give it away". If your car is still under warranty Skoda UK might void the warranty because you've not had the work done. It's all if's But's & maybe's at the moment. My car is one of those affected & I got the letter yesterday.

Speaking of mpg's, on my way back from Surrey a couple of weeks ago I was getting 77mpg showing. I think that's very good.

No I only wanted a DSG, that one was on the forecourt for sale. We liked the look & feel of it so we bought it. I was sadly down sizing from a 2L 4x4 DSG Yeti for financial reasons.
