I've just had my 2010 octavia vrs serviced They mentioned I have a very rusty rear spring and recommended to have it replaced because they can break/snap i've just been out to have a look at the spring and there is no rust On the spring top or bottom
Anyway is it common for Octavias rear springs to Break/snap ?

At front of engine on the block behind dipstick there is a black plastic joint bolted to the block with two pipes going to it.it is quite hard to see it from the front of the engine. It is not covered in a lot of oil just slightly damp and shiny when I put a torch on it. Is this anything to worry about is this normal ? What is it is it breather pipes for engine ? (2010 cr170 vrs).

I had my cam belt and waterpump replaced last year at a Skoda dealer I asked the same question about the aux belt and they charge me £17 for the belt no extra labour

Looking at buying a pela 6000 for my cr 170 octavia Has anyone changed their oil on this engine ? Does the tube Fit down the dip stick tube?

Yeah same here had two letters all gone quiet now meant to start recall from January Perhaps VW don't need to do it anymore I wonder if they have found a legal clause to get out of recalling thousands of cars.

I found an indy that charged 1.5 hrs to do an oil change, gearbox oil and rear discs and pads. Total Labour was £85
I supplied the parts myself. I bought the gearbox oil from here:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151755284000?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, for a manual box. Needed 3 litres @ £33
I assume you must have a dsg for the cost to be e185?
You could ask them if you can supply your own parts? My local dealer do, but their labour rates are £100 per hr, hence why I went to someone else where labour is £60 per hour
i now get my oil changed every 6 months at a cost of £30 plus parts
Which independent are you using ?I need to find one in Kent soon as I am going to start changing my oil every six months to.

Got the one above through today, perfect fit and function but sadly had a little damage so going to get it exchanged. I'll post some pics when all done.
Don't know if anyone else noticed but if you go from off to auto the unit makes one beep, from side lights to auto two beeps and from dips to auto three beeps. Anyone know what that's about?
Found this on a golf site not tried it don't know if it is the same as ours

Arrives today fitted in minutes works as it should do shame the golf switch is smaller so there is a gap at the top just got this search for a octavia switch now. But overall very pleased with it and how easy it is to do.

Mine did this as well. I tried velcro and silicone grease and they worked for a few days ... but the only solution that permanently worked for me (over 3 years with no squeaks now) was to insert fibre washers between the plastics wherever they were attached with screws, and to make sure that the screws were fully tightened up. The squeaks were due to the plastics rubbing together.
Hi did this today and so far so good quiet car

P.s anymore.pics of it?
