  1. Seriously considered a T-Cross but could not quiet get the deal and wanted to wait and see what Kamiq is like, disappointed on spec and price. Looked at an Audi Q2 but ended up really liking the Q3 for size and comfort of drive. Possibly look at the Karoq as similar in size to Q3. Whilst I would like a new car, Yeti is only 3.5 years old and all paid for, ticks all the boxes so have decided to keep for another 12 months.  May regret if prices go up 10% post Brexit!

TR7 driver, what about the Audi Q2. Depending on spec you can have 16, 17, 18 or 19" rims. The Sport spec has  215 55 R17. https://www.uk.audi.com/uk/web/en/models/q2/q2/trim-line.html#layer=/uk/web/en/models/q2/q2.mediathek_infolayer.trimline_trimline_sport.html

Q2 is on my short list, although dealer not as handy as VW or ŠKODA, not sure my budget stretches to Audi as coming out more pricey, although an ex demo Audi maybe an option.

  3. Like many Yeti owners considering the T-Cross as a replacement for the much loved Yeti. Have test drove both T-Cross in SEL and R-Line spec, prefer the look of the R-Line spec, but had concerned over the lower profile R18 tyre on R-Line, however thought it rode ok, however did notice how much better the Yeti drove on its R17 after the test drive, in comparison to the T-Cross R-Line. As others have commented manufacturers go for looks over comfort.

Nearly placed an order but VW dealer would not offer anything above the standard VW offer and trade-in value for Yeti was at the low end.  Did ask about R17 on R-Line but dealer said no!

Going to try another VW dealer, slightly further away from home, but also going to hang on until Kamiq is released, but prefer the look of the T-Cross vs Kamiq, Karoq is too big for my needs.  Having paid the balloon payment time is on my side, to allow me to continue looking and enjoy the Yeti a little longer.

  4. After two Yeti’s and 6 years of wonderful motoring with them, is it time for a change, head and heart currently in conflict.

At the start of the year I had indented to pay the balloon payment when due in September and keep the car for a further 18 months until the car was 5 years old. So I fitted 4 new Michelin cross climate tyres back in February just before MOT and took out an extended warranty with ŠKODA for a further 12 months. I’m still going to settle the balloon payment in September, but for the last month or so have been looking at options. Nothing currently ticks all the boxes like the Yeti does, but my one regret with my current Yeti was I did no go for the DSG at the time, finances would not quiet stretch that far.  Have driven a VW T Cross DSG and really loved the drive.

There are many things I like about the Yeti particularly the lift out rear seats and heated windscreen, which I would loose on the T-Cross.

The car that ticks all my boxes would be the Karoq, although a little bland looking from the outside, prefer the look of the Ateca, plus both are a little big for my current needs.  Therefore the Kamiq could be a possible, but waiting on spec and prices.

Trade in offers for Yeti are not brilliant, and local VW discount is minimal, currently looking at web options to see if better deals on T-Cross.

I don’t need to change, but sometimes you fancy a change, I can afford to change, but do I want to start the depreciation cycle again, decisions, decisions........!!!

Went for an initial look at the VW T-Roc  and Arona but ended up really liking the T-cross.

Delivery times arent too bad so will probably wait and see what the Kamiq spec and prices are like when it appears hopefully late summer ?

Got a test drive in a T-Cross booked for next week, but likewise want to see the Kamiq also, hurry up Skoda and at least get the configurator set up and announce a Uk launch date, can't see it being to at least September or October after the summer holiday season.

  6. Never got around to changing tyres as mileage reduced over last few months and tread wear was holding up.  Have the first MOT at start of March, tread is still legal, there is signs on the rims that the rubber is starting to perish, however noticed a small bulge on the front passenger tyre yesterday so clearly, now have to act.

My problem is compounded by unsure if I'm going to keep the car PCP ends in September, so do I go budget option, swap backs to front (a little late I know) with new on the rear, buy a full set of tyres for the car and keep it a little longer.  Not in a hurry to change as currently no good deals, apart from Seat Ateca, bought last 2 Yeti's on zero %. I do like the look of the new Skoda Kamiq, so more than happy to stick with my Yeti for another 12-18 months.

Current tyres are Pirelli Cinuratos, but do I go with Goodyear efficient grip or Michelin Cross climates plus.

Also who is the cheapest for tyres.

My lowest (2016 1.2 DSG) was indicated 18.3 mpg on the trip computer

A week ago 13 mile journey 1 hr 37 mins in start stop London traffic with outside temp 29-31c blazing sun, so climate busy throwing out cold air, and start stop obviously turned off

When M3 roadworks were on and had to cruise 20 miles at about 52mph, it showed over 48mpg so range variation is over 2.5 times.

Anyone want to beat that variance

Never been that low MPG, mid to high 20 mpg recorded when doing a lot of around town driving. Crept into the low 50's at the weekend on a slow steady drive back from London as was not in a rush, my car lifetime average after driving it for 2.5 years is just under 40 mpg.

  8. Recently purchased a Dashcam from Halfords, fitting kit was £20 but if Halfords fitted (£30) was free so for £10 fitting, desicded this was easier and quicker than trying to install myself and work out fuses etc.  MAde a very good neat job and only took them 15 minutes.

  9. The front tyres on my Yeti are getting ready for replacement, 2 1/2 years old and done 25k miles. Currently factory fitted originals Pirelli Cinturato P7 225/5- R17 94 W.  Any suggestions with what to replace with, ideally looking for a mid priced good all rounder.

  10. I had Smartlink and Smartgate installed, Smartlink is great for Android Auto or Apple car play, Smartlink is ok to play around with if you want extra details on the car performance, but novelty soon wears off, also I found it interfered with my phone when getting traffic info for google maps.

  11. I have a KAMEI Husky L black roof box LEFT side opening no. KM329 (K) from the Roof Box company on Thurle Aero bars, fits well pushes the aerial down a little but does not stop boot from opening, nor does it over hand at the front. Its medium width and if pushed to one side can get a bike rack on also.yJhNgypbPIfJj7CPfht7SfGN3a4ntRp4RNF10r7g5f-c_TVMLbmcbKfl1XaR0BMLcMtZO7Ko8877z2BqNVcpviu50oPf742akQM2vXMLiutAtdvC-YXqbU5N

  12. Had a similar intermittent problem on my Yeti for last month or so, took it in for a first service last week and mentioned this issue, expecting them to say they could not replicate the fault, however when I went to collect confirmed issued with rear wiper motor and will be replaced under warranty, however none in stock so got to make another visit to have fitted next week.  Glad covered by warranty as cost to Sokda shows as £249, on paperwork from Garage.

  13. Never used, still have in the bag, not sure how useful they are, perhaps somebody could share photos of nets actually holding stuff in place.

I have the net that fits under the parcel shelf, ok for a water proof, brolly and walking pole, but I find a lack of tension in the nets.

  14. Having had moon white for over a year now, I can immediately see the difference between moon and candy.  The candy seems very flat and creamy.  My moon white seems a bit sparklier (if there is such a word!) and livelier in colour.

    Agree

I've currently got a very dirty moon white, need to wash it this weekend to make it sparkle again.

  15. Petrol Blue is a great colour and was on my short list, the Yeti in the dealer's show room was Petrol blue, it's one of those colours that change with the light can look blue and at other times more green. I'm sure you will enjoy it. Whatever colour you choose it will still need cleaning!

  16. Looks like it is LS9R - 2Y2Y

That's the correct code for Moon White, which mine is, park it alongside a Candy white and you will notice the difference. Need to look very closely to see the Flec, but like most paints it also depends on the lighting conditions.
