  1. Has anyone changed a front spoiler/lip on a Monte Carlo? I've purchased a replacement (new part) and have a quote for a local body shop to paint it. I've asked if the quote includes fitting and they're going to let me know. It looks like 4 screws and the sides clip into the wheel arches. How hard would it be to change myself if they won't include the swapping of parts over in the quote? I've added a picture of another random Monte Carlo to highlight the part.
  2. Thank you for the reply, it's a 2014 plate if that helps?
  3. Hi, i was hoping someone may have some info on a issue with my wife's Fabia monte carlo drivers electric window? It randomly judders going up and down, sometimes even stops dead and you have to release the window switch and try again. The really random part is that it doesn't always happen and doesn't happen at all when using the "one shot" lower and raise window function. I inspected the door look wires earlier and soldered the heated wing mirror wire back together that had snapped. There was also a broken black and red wire which I again soldered and shrink wrapped together. On inspection off all the other wires they are fine (no exposed wire or breaks). I've searched the forums and googled it, but haven't had any joy so far.
  4. Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. We've purchased a second Fabia and it's missing the screws at the bottom of the door panel (every other door has them). I'm not sure where to get the replacement screws from or even what size they are? There the number 7 screws on this diagram. Any help is massively appreciated.
  5. Ignore... I figured it out! Had to pull the white tab upwards and then the plug came out.
  6. Hi all, my sons full beam stopped working (I checked/replaced the bulbs and checked/replaced the fuses). I ordered a replacement part but have got stuck trying to remove the big connecting block connected to the wiper/indicator stalk. Has anyone got any advice on how you remove it please?
  7. I used ebay before, cost about £9. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256589745933?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=B3gfEYgSSfi&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Ch09Lg8LQ7O&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP
  8. Thank you for the above and pre-planned is pre-warned! Can I ask where you got the repair kit from please? I think I might pick one or two up as well as we now have two of the same cars in the family now.
  9. Thank you so much! 3 broken wires now soldered back together and heat shrink wrapped and a working passenger wing mirror!
  10. Ah... I hadn't thought of that thank you, I'll go and have a look in a bit and will report back.
  11. Hi all, I picked up a 2013 Skoda fabia Elegance a few weeks ago to use as my sons first car. It was a private sale and at a very good price. On inspection I noticed that the powered passenger wing mirror was not working when using the mirror adjuster on the drivers side. The drivers wing mirror works fine. I purchased anyway as its a very clean example with a full service history at a very competitive price. I figured I'd factor in the savings to fix the wing mirror. I've searched and looked at lots of posts on here and the common reason is broken cables in thr door loom. I took the door panel off this afternoon and check all the wiring in the look and all the wires are fine (no obvious breaks or Splits. I unplugged the connector into the car itself and inspected all the pins etc. I then removed all the insulation tape and inspected all of the wiring behind the door panel (through the rubber grommet) again it was all good. In anticipation I had purchased a pre-owned wing mirror from ebay and plugged it in, again it didn't work. I even swapped out the original fuse for a brand new one (just covering all bases) again it didn't work. The electric window, speaker, etc all work fine on the passenger side, it's just the mirror. My next point of call would be the actual joystick that controls the mirror, I guess there's a small chance it could be faulty? I may need to end up getting an auto electrician to have a look, but would prefer if possible to remedy myself. Has anyone else had this issue where the wires and loom appear to be fine?
  12. Hi all, has anyone had their Fabia pull quite suddenly to the left when travelling at low speed? Almost feels like someone's trying to pull the steering wheel suddenly? The strange thing is that it doesn't always do it (even at low speed)? I'm going to drop it into my local independent garage to have a look at it. Just wanted to see if it's a common issue and if anyone else who has experienced this as well? Just incase they struggle to replicate the issue. Thanks in advance,
  13. Thank you so much for taking the time to take pictures and too upload them. They really look like a good fit and are just what we're after. Thanks again, really appreciated 🙏
  14. Hi, I did try the search function on here first, but couldn't find a post on it... We're looking for some seat covers for the rear seats if possible? We have a small dog and obviously want to keep the rear seats clean. Has anyone fitted any decent seat covers? I've purchased some before that look amazing in the pictures, but have turned up and are an awful fit...
  15. Thank you! It's more as we chuck our dash cam in there, so to stop the lens getting scratched, etc.
  16. Hi, I searched through the posts and googled it also, but... has anyone ever lined the glovebox on their car? More than looking nicer than the hard plastic, but more for stopping thing's sliding around in there. I thought about buying some grip mat material and cutting it down to size or even using some sticky velvet to line it. Just wanted to see if anyone had done anything similar before?
  17. I didn't realise how sort after these cars are? Ad went live on Autotrader around 10am, first call at 11am, chap drove 2 and a half hours too see it, 15 minute test drive (with me driving), paid by bank transfer and was on his way home in it by 4:30pm!
  18. Hi, thanks for the kind comment. It is a DSG I looked at the estate originally as well, but something about the hatch appealed more. Good luck with the search, they truly are excellent cars.
  19. Hi guys, I've decided to sell my Skoda Octavia VRS 245 (just posted it up in the classifieds). It's been an amazing car, but with lockdown carrying on and working from home, It's sitting in my garage not being used... We are fortunate enough to have 3 cars in our household and the painful decision has been made to move on the Octavia. Eventually when things go back to some kind of normality, I'm going to hopefully pick up an electric car as I only work 16 miles (round trip) from work. Also I'm allowed too charge my car for free at work, so makes real financial sense in the long run. I'm going to miss the Octavia though... Hands down the best car I have ever (in my short time with it) owned. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the useful advice I have picked up on here (even way before I bought her).
  20. A couple of old and new pictures for the air filter! I picked one up for £15 delivered on eBay last week and fitted this morning. The cars had 3 services and I'm 99% sure that the airfliter wasn't changed on any of them. Takes literally 5 minutes and for the cost, it's well worth doing 😁
  21. Oh wow! I didn't actually know that! You would think it would be counterproductive not letting it warm up and let the oil move around? Thanks for letting me know though, definitely worth looking into.
  22. This is my kind of luck! Unless your really unlucky with a car, I still think that if you look after them they tend to be OK. I let my car warm-up before pulling away (rev's drop down too normal idle), don't thrash it from cold, try to avoid hard braking, check fluids and tyre pressures regularly. Wash it regularly and touch up paint chips where possible, etc.
  23. Sounds about right for a main dealer... There are some good ones out there, but by Christ, there are a lot of bad ones also! I stopped taking my golf too VW after they lost my locking wheel nut, I was there for about 3 hours arguing with them that it was in the car when I arrived in the car. I also argued the fact that they took the wheels off to check my brake pads and discs condition (too which the service Manager agreed with. After repeatedly asking them to check the workshop and feeling just a little irate by this point, the service Manager goes into the workshop, re-appears 5 minutes later (with a swagger in his step) with my locking wheel nut! Literally drops it in my hand and walks off without a word of apology. The problem is at re-sale time everyone wants a service history and one from a main dealer at that! I kept all my receipts, used OEM servicing parts, the best oil I could get and my 90,000 mile MK5 golf ran like a dream. Still when I sold it all I got where messages saying "FSH bruv?". I eventually sold it for a few hundred less than it was worth. I don't intend too keep my VRS for longer than about 3 years and my next 2 services are paid for already as part of the sale, so will keep the history up even though I feel I'm being mugged off.
  24. That does seem a bit odd? I've heard of long life sparkplugs, etc. but never long life air filters? I drive down a lot of country lanes too work and when I used to service my golf every 12 months I would be pulling out dead insects, twigs, leaves and the filter was normally pretty discolored by this point. Might look at the condition of my current one as like you said, not expensive too replace with an OEM one.
  25. Hi! I've had some great advice on here and read some useful posts as well so wanted to share a link for a car seat cover that I found works really well in my 245 vRS https://www.amazon.co.uk/Osprey-Waterproof-Universal-Protector-Watersports/dp/B081DJBMM8 It cost me £19.99 and is perfect for what I wanted! It rolls up into a small mesh back and can be thrown into the boot until needed. We have a dog who sits on the back seats with the kids and this cover fits perfectly on the middle seat and stops wet and mucky Poor's messing up my alcantara. It's made of neoprene (wetsuit material) and so far has been worth its weight in gold. I'm not affiliated with Amazon or Osprey, just wanted to give a heads up Incase anyone was looking for a cheap solution or uses the search button in the future.
