  1. Looking for any recommendations for getting some work done on rns510, as I don't really want to use the local dealer. I need to get the oem GPS receiver replaced/fixed and then would like to look at dab upgrade and new wiring to enable Bluetooth music in both sets of speakers. I'm willing to travel to manc/lancs if required.

    Thanks in advance

  2. 170 4x4 manual for me. In normal conditions it feels very planted although agree with the slightly notchy gear change comment. Where it has come into its own is in winter with winter tyres. Our second car is an audi diesel 2x2 which also gets winter tyres. The superb is far more capable in the snow and ice of a pennine winter. We were thinking of a full 4x4 so the haldex system, although slightly impacting economy, is a very good compromise. It isn't as 'premium' inside as the audi, but overall pretty happy given that it is our family car.

  3. I went with the map upgrade and some speed can pois. The hassle of the firmware upgrade didn't seem worthwhile for the minimal functionality.

I have seen updates in the maps in the normal routes I drive. The only thing I would say (and this maybe that I've been paying more attention than normal), but the position seems to be a couple of metres off where we are ( I appreciate that GPS is only +- a couple of metres anyway)?

  4. Hi,

Looking for a bit of advice from the brains of the members. I have already upgraded my 3T0035680A from firmware 2*** to 4024 (it is now showing as a 3T0035680B with HW H06). I currently have v9 (7918) maps installed and all has been working fine.

So now I'd like to move to v11 maps, but I am not sure if the disk space on the base 4024 fmware is sufficient (there is a special 4024 release on rnsfirmware which reformats the hdd in a different ratio) any idea if I need to do this?

An additional concern is that to do this it looks like I need to activate the firmware downgrade option to reinstall another version of 4024 (this isn't in my secret menu that I can see), do I need another 'patch'?

I am firm believer in getting the latest versions (a far as possible) and given that it is possible there seems to be zero dealer support in this area [emoji17]

    Thanks in advance [emoji2]

  5. Hi,

I have just upgrade the bluetooth module from 5N0 0357 30C to 7P6 035 730J. The install itself was pretty simple and all seems to be work.

However, the old module had two connectors whereas the new module only has one. The spare wire has been left unconnected. Does anybody know what this was/is and if it is going to cause me any issues (doesn't seem to at the moment)?

    Thanks in advance

  6. We have an A6 and a Superb (twin door 170 4x4). I am impressed with the Superb, in particular he space and the clever boot. I have to say the A6 is slightly better in most ways. It has a slightly better feel to all of the knobs and buttons and is a bit better to drive. All of these differences are very small on their own, but if you are comparing side by side they are there.

All in all the fact that the Audi is only a bit better is a massive credit to Skoda as it is supposed to be the premium brand in the group and get first dibs on the new components. The real benefit for the Skoda is the value to provides, so I'd be surprised if you can get a similarly equiped a6 for the price of a superb. IMHO the Superb blows the socks off the comparable VW Passat.

Not sure if having a Skoda balances out the character flaw of having an a6? :^)
