Modernizing My 2008 Greenline Estate, suggestions welcome.
Got bored and desided to do some work, finally got round to properly fitting the luggage compartment seperator thingie: Bought this OEM curtain for just 25 dollars: Fits perfectly and is held on by two fasteners that are just taped on, easy and quick instal: Removing the rear bumper so i can instal some extra backuplights: Cleaned the inside of the bumper and marked up where to drill and cut, in hindsight i should have put each light 1.5cm lower and 5cm farther out on the bumper: Before and after the backup-lights got instaled. Note that i did not lock ISO and shutter so the camera makes the difference look less than it is, one can see on the lights on the houses that the camera compensates.

So my landlord figured out what was wrong with my shifter. It seems i can now push it down further than i could before i disassembled it, maybe i broke something when i changed the linkage. I added a piece of plastic tubing to the arm of the shifter to stop it from being pushed down to far, its a janky solution but it works and beats buying a new shifter.

New gearlink in the mail today=) No wonder i been having a hard time shifting, this is my old gearlink! Time to drop the exhaust and heatshield: Got the shifter housing down under the car: One of the links doesnt look like the others i seen, good that i ordered the right one. When im at it im gonna change the adjusters or whatever they are called, old one to the right. The new ones is loads firmer then the original ones, i guess the rubber was getting tired. I also got a bigger slider fron dieselgeek. So all the gears work perfect now, almost. IDK what i did wrong but now when i push the shifter down to engage reverse i can twist it 45degrees both directions. Anyone know whats wrong with it?

So this week i been wiring up the extra backup lights, backupcamera and added dynamat to the trunk. Omg its so dirty behind the panel. Heres the tube i use to house the wiring. Careful to cover as much as ****ible over the wheel arch. Adding the leftover pieces to the inside of the cover, have to be careful as there is not much clearance between cover and body in some places, just 2-3mm infact. Next is the lover trunk, just before and after pics. Now i emptied the 3th bulkpack with dynamat and i stil have one wheel arch and the roof left, im using way to much of this stuff and its just silly as half coverage wil net over 90% of the results. Its suggested to only use one or two bulkpacks on an entire wagon. I wont be doing anymore dynamat until after christmas, i have to order another pack and there is stil the backup camera, backuplights and headlights to finnish up as the parts arive in the mail. Happy holidays everyone=)

This project is taking way longer than i anticipated, i guess its mostly since i start fixing and cleaning everything i come across as im working my way trough the car. So far bonnet, doors, hatch and floors from A-pillar to c-pillar is done. Trunk and roof left. I just did the first testdrive after floor insulation was applied, and the car went from cheap noisy box feeling to modern midrange car feeling=) I did a SPL/noise reading of the car before i started, but winter has come and i had to put on studded tyres so all comparisons are out the window. EDIT: Pictures of the center console, i added dynamat to the places i could get it to resonate the most when i knocked on it. Dont know if it helps but it is just above the canal for the exhaust.

I would love a guide! The headliner is my next step. Just did the bottom part of the interior. WARNING: Nude Fabia is lewd Fabia. Added some dynamat just under the handbrake wires to prevent rattle, added some aluminium tape over it to prevent it from scratching and cluttering. And here are some examples of the dirt that accumulates in difficult to reach places: I decided to try CrisFix's youtube guide for interior cleaning, it did wonders! LINK: Is that clean enough?=)

So far the road noise is just alittle bit dampened, engine noise is noticably lower since i added the dampening to the bonnet. I havent done the floor and roof and thats the places with majority of the gains, deadening doors like i have now is mainly just to remove rattle from speakers. I wil start with the floor when i get the XZN bits i need to remove the seats. and the luggage protector is propperly instaled. Shoudl be all done with that on Friday. To remove the headliner i need go get people to help me so i wont break it.

In the front i have Focal ISU 165 since they have low depth, Clearing to the window wont alow deeper than those, and thats with 30mm spacers on the doors. In the back i chose Focal PS 165 since they are fairly afordable and fits nicely with 30mm spacers. I made wooden spacers but i instaled them before i started to take pictures. I would suggest not instaling as much deadening as i have as it makes the doors notacibly heavier. Its enough to have on the inner skin of the door. I instaled in both skins and the panel. EDIT: Changed to 18mm spacers in the doors as it leaves more clearance infront of the speakers, they ended up hitting the plastic if i played bass heavy music. Stil clears the windows. Also added a rubber baffle to shield the speakers from water ingress dripping on them from the windows.

While im waiting for parts im just gonna try to fix the funky 2nd gear, sometimes it wont engage. I started with changing the oil on the trans as the car has original oil and has 150.000 kilometers on the odo. There was only 1.6 liters of oil on the trans and the workshop manual says it should be 1.8, i think i have a JDD MQ250 5-speed. Should be 1.8 liter :S Old and new oil. This made the shifting better, but its not fixed, so i guess i have to check the linkages.

Any idea how i can repair this instead of buying a new panel for the 5th door? Wreckers said they wanted 50euro for a used panel:S I also miss that rubber handle thingie that should be on the boot, you know the rubber slong that hangs from the door's inside. Anyone know where i can get hold of that part?

There should be space elswhere in the car door, but interior donation is further down the line, there is stil a wish to have the car look close to factory spec. 5th door done: Also changed the lifts as they didnt support the door anymore and the stoppers as they had lost the rubber on em: The rear windshield wiper motor was also shot and the washer nozzle broken off, so i changed that too: Now i have to wait for parts before i can continue, i ordered some XZN bits, door microswitches, backupcamera and some extra interior lights: While im waiting i can do ther maintanace, cleaned up the interior and enginebay last night. I forgot to take a before picture so you just have to trust me when i say the entire engine was gray with dust. The interior also looked fairly dirty before i started, no before picture there either:S

Double Din Stereo
How bout this then? https://www.joyingauto.com/android-10-0-joying-8-inch-vw-passat-skoda-seat-car-navigation-system-4gb-64gb.html Tho these chinese android units do not have competative amplifiers inbuilt but they serve normal use. And better yet, they have digital out if you want to go audiophile.

how to install a usb port?
I would suggest to not instal USB ports on a horizontal surface, they wil collect dirt and debries over time. Other than that i would get a flush mounth USB outlet and hardwire it to the fusebox you have on the driver side panel. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZK1KQHC/ref=sspa_dk_detail_6?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07ZK1KQHC&pd_rd_w=CKlKA&pf_rd_p=f0355a48-7e73-489a-9590-564e12837b93&pd_rd_wg=T8qCe&pf_rd_r=0AK1E3XFWNG61C83EG0P&pd_rd_r=c519d221-32ac-4835-912c-16e9b3d6e466&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzVTRDTElNUURQMTc5JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzc1NDA2MVpOVFY5OE5GSVZLTyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNjI3MTQyMTExSktORVBXMTlIMiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbF90aGVtYXRpYyZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= Just remember that you cant hirdwire a normal USB port directly to the fusebox as USB is 5v and car is 12v. EDIT: to prevent the USB from draining battery when car is of you can use a relay to only have the USB powered when ACC has power(the car stereo trigger cable).

Double Din Stereo
Kenwood has a nice new stereo with a giant screen. I have a headunit from Joying and i happy with it, they are android based so you can use almost any Navigation app and all that.

Rear door sound insulation and speaker: The fancy 10" android 8.1 headunit i ordered from Joying last year. The headunit came with one of those tape-to-the-window DAB antennas, and i think it looks horrifying to have that sticker antenna in my window. I see several sharkfin style antennas that do DAB, FM and GPS at the same time and im thinking it might be worth it to change my stock FM aerial for one of those?

Modernizing My 2008 Greenline Estate, suggestions welcome.
Hello. My loved green Greenline estate is starting to show its age. So i decided to do some mods to it to make it more comfortable to drive and less cumbersome to use. The microswitch on the driver side, rear wiper motor, two of the speakers have all stoped working so its about time to freshen it up and give it an overhaul. I decided to start with the doors, lube up the lockingmechanisms and install sound deadening material while i was changing the speakers for new ones. I also added sound treatment to the bonnet. Now im on the fence if i should change the entire interior with the interior loom so i could get MFSW, MaxiDOT, fancy aircon and rear electric windows. Theres a cheap Fabia Elegance near where i live and i could do a full interior transplant, think it would be to challaning to do or worth it at all? Any other improvements or comforts anyone can think of that i should do while im going over the car?
