[Octavia RS end silencer]

Hi,

 

Is it only possible to get the RS end silencer original from Skoda? For the Leon/Golf 1.8t AUQ there are lots of OEM stuff, but not for the octavia.

[Octavia RS accelleration issues]

Hi guys,

 

I have an issue with my 2002 Octavia RS and I have not been able to match it exactly to any of the other issues described here in the forum.

 

So ... issue is..

 

When acceleration at a medium pace up through the gears the car accelerates fine. If I do a WOT acceleration and after that do an acceleration at a medium pace again the car hesitates/loses power/regains power/ from 2000rpm and all the way up through the rev range.

 

After a few minutes of driving the car settles and I am able to do a medium acceleration without too much hesitation.

 

I can also trigger the problem if I am in 5th gear and gives it some boost without it being WOT.

 

So its a boot isse of some sort? My mecanic is out of ideas :-/

 

Things changed :

 

Spark plugs

N75 valve

MAF sensor

Checked all hoses etc.

 

Any ideas will be apreciated!

 

The car has done 235tKM and I have had it for 10 years ... so I know how it should drive when it drives OK :-)

ok,

I dont know if you are aware but if your switch has more than two wires on the actual brake light switch connector, than you have to fit them in the way so it locks appropreatelly.

Are your brake lights constantly on while you have any other light on??

It turned out to be the tow bar electrics that messed up. Once the towbar electrics is disconnected everything works fine.

Will fix it when the weather is warmer :-) At least I have a new green brake light switch now!

Have you fitted the switch correctly? It is possible to get the plunger jammed down.

Try:

- disconnecting the switch from the pedal (checks for plunger issues)

- unplugging the switch from the loom (checks for a faulty switch/ short elsewhere in the loom)

Do you have access to vagcom? iirc, it can report on if switch thinks it is being pressed.

I think I have fittet it correct.

The switch came in unlocked state, pressed the pedal down, inserted the switch, let the pedal com up again and locked it.

Since the braking light was on constantly while driving I have now replaced the brake light switch to the green version ... but it has not helped. Brake light is still on! What can be the problem here?

Looking at the original lamps compared to the LED, the fitting of the LED looks terrible. The LED verison looks like a Audi A4 B5 lamp they have just modified to somehow fit.

Not going to buy the LED lamps right now i think.

I just want the lights for the DE lins so that I can mount xenon in them :-) Dont care about the LED ... actually i would be temptet to disconnect the LED. As you can see these lights are half on the price of the original xenons (The original xenons lights are complete with bulbs though - but without converters.)

Does any of you have pictures of these headligts fitted on a black vRS MK1? Thinking the lights will suited for fitting a xenon kit.

[Petrol smell when idling]

Still need help on this topic I'm afrain. Has changed the above mentioned hose and no other hoses seems to be faulty. Other than that I have change the MAF sensor but that didnt help (so I'm running on the old MAF again).

But now I have an error code on the front lambda sensor, but can that lead to petrol smell when idling?

I have petrol smell in the vRS when idling ... and then I found this hose with a crack in it. Have fixed it temporarely with some gaffa. Anyone got a part # on that one? (The hose on the fist pic with a circle around it)

Have taken it to local independant who has ordered the bit and will fix it next week. He advised sticking some tape round the hole for now.

Smell petrol in my car now also. Where is that hose located?

[Replacing temperature sender]

Just recieved my new temperature sender (059 919 501A), but where on the 1.8T is it placed?

Just got it checked by someone who said it could be the low/high pressure valve. Is it the one inside this box and is it a DIY job?

We tested the pressure and it was too high when there was hot air comming out (And when the climatronic was set to ex. 18 celcius). When there was cold air comming aout the pressure was OK.

Also, do I need to drain the system when changing the valve?

A proper climate control system consists of 3 main components, an air chiller, a heater and a blending box, which produces air at the required temperature (or hot or cold to achieve that temp).

The blending box has a number of flap valves on it to control proportions of hot and cold intake air, and direction(s) of output. In the Octy, it lives where the heater does in the low spec models.

If the compressor is running properly, you've got refridgerant, and you're still only getting hot air, it can only be the control flap motors in the blender box, or the interior temperature sensor.

Try the "random pressing of Climatronic buttons" fix?

Just been in diagnose mode and the interior temperature sensor has a value (although im not shure it's the correct value). Where does the control flap motors sit?

Just been out starting the car (about and hour after I tried it for the first time today with hot air comming out) and cold air came out as it should. It was the same scenario yesterday :confused:

Finally, leaving a dog in the car by itself in sunny conditions is a really bad idea (and illegal in the UK, don't actually know about Denmark). It's quite possible for the conditions in a closed car to get hot enough to kill the animal in a few hours.

I am NOT going to leave the dog in the car ... the dog is only in the car when going from A to B.

I am told that this courtain attaches to the parcel shelf and since it is removed when driving with the dog it wont work. Can anyone clarify this?

Yes you can feel some vibration on the gas pedal when the compressor is working ... but only hot air comes out.

Sometimes cold air come out as it is supposed to, and sometimes not :confused:

Hi,

Just gut myself a dog and when he is out driving with me he sits in the trunk with the "removable shelf" (Whats the correct english word for it? Im from denmark so ... help ) removed.

Question is ... on the Octavia Estate its a sort of flexible roll in, roll out solution to hide the luggage. Can you get that on the hatchback?

Also, can you get some sort of original curtain for the rear window so the poor dog is not fried by the sun?

I just got my climatronic serviced because it was not cooling at all. On the way back from my mechanic the cooling was OK. The day after the aicondition didnt work again. 1 hour later I started the car again and cold air came out as it should.

Checked the climatronic for error codes but it says 444 00 which means no fauls?

Any ideas?

Regarding towbar :

I have the same towbar on my Octy and I seem to remember that the guy I bought the car from said it was original. Only thing I can see written on the detatchable bit is the number "132004".

Btw, you need to remove all that rust or else you will have a really hard time attaching the towbar.

The fog lights seem to be on fuse 36 according to the picture. My fogs works fine, but will absolutely check Fuse 19 when I get home.

Hi,

I am suddently not able to use the high beam on the left headlight.

Two scenarios :

When I try to use it, the low beam just stays on. I have tried to change the bulb - no luck.

If I change the light switch so I can have permanent high beam on, the low beam goes out and there is no light in the headligh other than the parking light.

The right headlight works fine!

Any ideas?
