  1. Hi guys and girls! As the title suggests, my 2015 Octavia Scout threw up the EML and when plugged in, it asked for a new Exhaust pressure sensor. Thats been sorted but the light is still on. Friend of mine thinks it could possibly be the wiring loom from ECU to plug but that would mean a potchy day under the bonnet. :( Has this happened to anyone? Any know of anything different or obvious which I haven't mentioned? Thanks in advance! Joe
  2. Hey all, Its good to be back after some years. Used to own a Skoda Octavia L and K 1.9tdi 2006 but I've out of the Skoda market four some years. Yesterday I bought myself a Skoda Octavia Scout 2015. Really happy with it. What a lovely drive. I'm from the South Wales area. Looking forward to chatting! Joe
  3. Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI 140hp Beige Auto DSG Based in Neath, South Wales (Near Swansea) Part Service History - But Services every year, regardless if under mileage required for service 16' alloy wheels CD head unit with 6 X Change in the boot (OEM) Full leather interior (no rips or scuffs) Front and Rear Park Assist Auto Headlights Rain Sensitive Wipers Headlight washers Large Boot etc 84,000 miles Used as a daily for work by my wife (driven slower than a tree full of slow things) Recently had an EGR delete (to prevent us having to change it again) Remapped from 105hp to 140hp at the same time as the EGR delete for an extra £40 (SCM Remaps, Crosshands, Wales) I am looking to swap for a van and something transit sized (Vivaro/Trafic/Transit) - Something around £3500 - £4000 mark - Would add cash for the right van. In conclusion - The car is solid. The gearbox has been cared for and had a health check with a filter and new oil at 67k. Not due another oil and filter change till 110k (40,000 - intervals). I bought the car at 67k in Sept 2013 and changed the flywheel the same time as doing the oil and filter for peace of mind. Its recently had a new rocker cover gasket also. Its had a service and multipoint check just before Christmas where the CV boot was changed and also the brakes will need new pads and discs shortly. Honest car - Solid runner with a lovely plethora of extras. Comfortable to drive and good for a family run around. Its still very tight and very economical. I only ever put Shell diesel in it or Texaco Supreme in it. Car isn't 'clean' in this pic. Will be detailed inside and out for new owner.
  4. Similar thing happened with my Golf but on a bigger scale, the seals completely went whilst on the M60 outside Accrington, Manchester doing 75mph. Car filled with blue/white smoke which stank and I lost lots of power. Crawled it into the nearest (tesco's) carpark and called the AA. Diagnosed the seals and also towed me home (to Swansea, South Wales ££££££ ) The blue smoke isn't just on startup, its when the car is under boost, or immediately after pulling out from a junction with any speed. Basically when the turbo spools up. I don't know what a PCV is Nick. Could you elaborate? Ive recently had an EGR delete, and also whilst they did that, they remapped the car from 105hp to 142hp. I don't boot the car at all, its the family runabout and I drive it as such. My wife uses it back and fore work about 12 miles a day. Nothing else I can think of mentioning. Gearbox had an oil change last year and a new filter? Hope this is better - Thanks
  5. LoL... spoke to my technical fixy repairer friend today. Said it sounds very much like the seals are on their way out on the turbo. He's recommended replacing the core for the turbo instead of paying the whole lot for the housing and manifold. However, there are a few hybrid turbo's about which are quite reasonable. Anyone done this before or would they recommend spending the money for the whole turbo? The turbo core / cartridge is around £120. New turbo is around £500 - £600 and Hybrid could be around £350 to £400 Cheers
  6. Well, its worse when i put my foot down. I've revved the engine on the drive and it throws a load out then. Worse when its been standing and idling for a bit.
  7. Hi guys! Wondering if anyone can help. I had my Octy go through some issues a few months back where I thought the turbo had gone. Had the EGR delete and a remap to 142hp and the car has been running fine. Over the last few days however, I have noticed that it has been spitting out blue smoke from the exhaust. It was minor initially but now its throwing quite a bit out which makes me think its getting worse lol. For obvious reason's I think it might be leaking oil and possibly from the turbo seals due to a previous experience but I am not sure. Wondering if anyone can offer any advice on an alternative part going wrong in this situation. Thanks for any help you guys offer! Joe
  8. Sounds like you got a Friday car ... mine has been a nightmare as of late too. Would you consider selling privately? You could get much more for your money than a dealer is willing to give you. Other than that, I would say a change is as good as the rest. At least you'll get a used car warranty with a dealer too. Go for it.
  9. Rusty, I've scanned the car. It throws up an EGR fault but again as i said, the EGR has been changed.
  10. lol - With the EGR removed it runs fine, so Im considering a delete...how much does it normally cost for a remap?
  11. Hey all, only me again, I still haven't sorted this problem out and Im at the brink of tears/suicide! As mentioned previously, this all started with me changing my EGR valve. The car was running fine, but the EML came on the dash. Took it to my mate who changed the EGR valve, and put out the light. On the drive home, I noticed the car was then running slightly lumpy and was jerking slightly under acceleration and would intermittently go into limp mode under hard acceleration. I know the EGR was screwed because it was holding pressure/vacuum, so I then knew that this meant there was more to it. I brought it back to my mate who did more tests. We checked the turbo and it would seem that the turbo actuator was a little bit sticky. My mate stripped the turbo down and rebuilt it greasing everything up nicely. However, it still had the same problem. I drove it for a bit of time to see if it would sort itself out but low and behold, as I thought, it didn't. So back to my mate. He then removed the small pipe going from the back of the EGR Valve over to the vacuum solenoid. I took it for a drive and it drove like it used to. I was quite shocked but he seemed to think that it is now the Vacuum Solenoid causing the problem. I bought a used working solenoid from eBay, replaced the old one, but the problem was still the same. After a few miles, it threw up the EML again. I contacted the person I bought the solenoid off and explained I think it may be faulty so he sent another used part, again, we replaced the solenoid fitted to the car and still the same issue. The car only seems to run well when the EGR valve is disconnected. We have checked for pipe leaks and theres nothing leaking anywhere. I don't know what else to do and I don't think its the turbo as the car runs fine when the EGR is disconnected. No issues with the turbo at all. I really don't know what else to check / change. Any ideas anyone? Otherwise Im getting rid...I can't stand this, its so annoying!
  12. How much for a new set for an octavia 2006? Its the fob with Open Boot Lock on it
  13. Yes thats the one. Possibly causing the running issues. Im guessing main dealer only but anyone have a clue how much they are?
  14. Does anyone know what this is called or even a part number? file:///Users/JoeCrookes/Downloads/20141101_173633.jpg Cheers!
  15. I would be interested in this! Need a new set as mine is on its way out and looks shaborific!
  16. Right ok, managed to establish today that the turbo really hasn't got much to do with why things have been crappy with the car. Unplug the EGR breather pipe today and found the car was running better than ever. So now I think it maybe the vacuum unit that this connects to. Need to just work out what its actually called. Any ideas anyone?
  17. This is all great stuff for me to look at guys, Im going over the garage with my pal tomorrow to have a proper look. Will take lots of pics to update you. Not sure how you upload them on here in tidy order so please bare with me!
  18. Ah cheers for your replies Gents. I managed to speak with a tech over in Skoda today, who, when I explained what is happening (was able to explain in more detail) seemed to think that he believes the car in under boosting from a possible leak in the vacuum pipes for the Turbo. Possibly a split pipe. He explained that there is a control unit on the gearbox which looks for / adjusts (not really sure what he said here) the torque produced by the engine and manages the gear changes. If the turbo (and pipes leading to and from) isn't working properly this can cause weird changes. Currently there are no lights on the dash and no fault codes (been checked) but the car is still running funky so, my next port of call, will be to check the vacuum pipes to see if they are holding pressure. All positive stuff and food for thought. I have something to work to and will keep you guys updated. If i find out the problem and resolve it you'll have a full update. Cheers and just wanted to say thanks again guys, I'm sure its annoying having someone asking the same old questions over and over.
  19. When you're saying have it reset, does that mean it can adopt a high rev gear change? and how would I go about getting it reset? Not really sure what a VCDS is either. Ive had it scanned and initially before the turbo was stripped it threw up an emissions workshop light and the CEL on the dash. Since the turbo being cleaned, no lights but still the weird gear changes.
  20. Hey all, Im slowly getting to the bottom of my running issues with my car and am appreciating all the help I'm receiving. Ok, so since my last post, I have changed my EGR valve on the car (Skoda Oct Mk II 1.9 TDI 105 BHP Automatic) as I was having issues with that and despite changing it, i kept having running issues as follows: When pulling off normally from a stop, I would reach around 2000 RPM and the car was stutter/hesitate and I would get a sudden boost of turbo, the car would also stay in gear without changing to high revs then eventually change gear with a bit of throttle manipulation. Then on some journeys the car would go into limp mode if i tried to drive it with any gumption. Ok, so took it to my guy, he stripped the turbo off the car, cleaned it all up and released the veins as they were full of gunk. The was slight marking on the inside of the turbo where the veins had been sticking. Now, I don't go into limp mode (yet) BUT I am still getting weird gear changes and that hesitant type feeling intermittently at 2000 RPM. Had some weird gear changes too still. Not sure what the issue is here and its starting to get right on my tits. Surely someone else has had similar problems or at least knows about what is happening to my car? Total pain in my bum...
  21. Hey all, Sorry to bother everyone with what might seem a trivial issue. I have recently replaced the air box on my Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi 2006 Auto with a sporty cone filter to allow it to breath a little better but noticed that it was revving like mad before changing gear. A lot like it was in sport mode constantly. Was getting large plooms of black smoke to rear too. Decided that I would revert back to the original air box but A: not sure if i've put it back in properly as there is a black pipe hanging from the bottom of it that Im not sure where it goes and B: its still running a little funny. Was having issues around 2000 RPM where it would fumble a bit and sometimes Im losing power and feel like the turbo isn't kicking in. Ive connect the airmass meter back up and have double checked it as i know this sometimes can be a symptom of this packing in. Any ideas? Could it be this pipe hanging from the bottom of the filter? Thanks for any help people!
  22. Yeah sorry mate, car was fine driving. Cleaned it out and tested the EGR itself and it failed.
  23. Hey guys, hope you're all well. Haven't really posted a lot on here but have read quite a bit. Im sure this topic has crept up before but I can't seem to find a definitive answer for my car. I have a Octavia Mk 2 1.9TDI L&K Auto DSG. Love the car but as per the topic title, it has thrown the Engine Management light up on the dash. I took it to a garage who plugged it in and it came up with glow plug 1 fault and also the EGR valve. He tested the EGR and said the vacuum is knackered in it and it will need replacing. He also said that I can remove the EGR valve with a delete kit but would have to get it remapped (for the Engine Management light to go out). Whats the crack people? Should I just replace the EGR valve. Looking at around £70 (approx) for the part, or should I do the delete and remap? Appreciate any help/suggestions
  24. Hey all, been using the forum for a while now and found it very helpful so i thought i would pop a post on to say thanks for the tips. I currently own a 2006 Skoda Octavia Hatch 1.9tdi L&K in beige. I had a 2007 Passat Estate before this and it was a nice car. Was expecting the Skoda to be less of a car but i was completely off the mark. It has the DSG (auto) and thus i thought it would be boring to drive but in fairness its such a reliable and luxurious car to drive it really is the nicest car i've owned. Ive attached a pic but not sure if i've done it right. Just wondering what the best section to post in is, I'm looking to customising the exterior of the car slightly. I love the OEM and Euro look so I am hoping to get some pointers from fellows fans of this look and also looking for a nice set of lipped/rimmed wheels which are smaller than the 16's currently on there. Would appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Cheers all!
