  1. Thanks. It had the same Duracell battery that was in before the car battery was changed - this issue seems to have developed after that was replaced. I suspect it may be a dealer trip if the issues continue (it was working fine again today when I just popped out).
  2. Our 63 plate's battery was running low and got changed when we last had it serviced. Since then the remote locking has been quite temperamental. On the whole it is working, but on several occasions now it has simply stopped working. The battery in the keyfob is fine (although I have changed it). Generally putting the key back in the ignition and starting the engine is sufficient to get it to work again, but it took a bit more effort last night and I'm not actually sure what I did in the end to sort it! I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this? The fact it's an intermittent issue probably makes it harder to solve.
  3. We seem to be suffering frequent coolant loss on our 1.4TSI over the last 2-3 months, I've had to top it up two or three times in that period. It's done around 60k miles. Last year we had the cambelt change, but I'm not sure offhand if the water pump was done (it seems like there may be issues with water pumps for cars of that age?). I will have to check the receipt when I get chance, but I vaguely recall being told it didn't need replacing at the time. Is that likely to be the most likely source? And is it going to be a pain to do if it's generally done with a cambelt change?
  4. Pretty sure it was the fixed price £399. I don't have the bill with me right now but it was £607.16, but fixed priced £399 cambelt change, £169 interval service & £39 MOT comes to £607. Not sure where the other 16p came from, plus I was supposed to have paid for collection & delivery. Thanks regarding the tyre, was planning to get the same make as you mentioned. Third one on that corner in a year & 10,000 miles (fitted on a Friday last year, puncture on the Sunday, 1 year on a cut on the sidewall has done for the replacement).
  5. Didn't want to make 2 topics but they're kinda different things hence a long title. Our 63 plate 1.4tsi has just been in for MOT/Service/Cambelt Change. Have just had the call to pay and it's less than expected as I was advised the water pump didn't need doing (This is at a Skoda main dealer). I know when I've looked it up there's been some confusion around this and probably just adds to it but thought I might as well let people know my experience. It's failed its MOT on drivers side rear tyre, it's got a cut or similar in the sidewall that's taken it to the cord. My main question really is around replacing this, the other rear tyre has 7mm of tread left on it as they're fairly new so would I get away with just replacing the faulty one? They're Goodyear 4seasons if that makes a difference.
  6. Think this is a software issue across the VW group as it does it on our new Golf R DSG too. The gearbox always reverts to D. Less of an issue in race mode as you can just pull the stick to switch between D/S but if you're in Eco mode you have to cycle through the drive modes back to Eco to get the gearbox in E. If it's not in E it doesn't coast.
  7. I also got one that seemed early on my 1.4 petrol. Last service was done at the same time as MOT at the end of November 16, I'd done about 8.5-9k miles in about 10.5 months when it started saying it needed an oil change which I thought was a bit early.
  8. Thanks for the replies all. I got 4 Goodyear Vector 4seasons fitted on Thursday. Seemed quite a bit less road noise than the factory fitted ones. Managed nearly 100 miles before something punctured the sidewall on the M1, so I'll be getting a 5th one fitted this week!
  9. The front tyres on my SE are about done now after 30k miles, rears have loads of tread so I've learnt a lesson about rotating tyres. I've been thinking about moving to all season tyres but given the rears still have lots of life left in them I'm not sure what the best option is. So far as I see it I could either: Replace all 4 tyres with all seasons Replace fronts with the same summer tyres Swap front & rears and replace the worn ones with all seasons (searching around suggests I'd want the grippier tyres at the back) Not sure that mixing tyre types is the best, and it doesn't seem the best idea financially to replace decent tyres. Any advice would be appreciated!
  10. We had a BeSafe Izi Go Isofix that has been good for the first year for each of ours. Eldest daughter moved into a Besafe Combi Isofix which is rear facing up to 4 years but is massive, and braces itself by pushing something into the back seat, which has now left what appears to be a permanent dent. We also had issues with particularly my wife not being able to tighten the straps enough and then one got twisted and I couldn't get it back despite trying repeatedly. So now they're both in a Kiddi Guardianfix Pro 2. It has a bumper bar across the children that's held in by the seatbelt and is way easier to make sure they're in safely. Children seem very happy in it too and it's pretty light so easy to move between the cars. It also takes them right up to 12 years old. I'd definitely recommend it for when they're big enough.
  11. We're looking at getting a new car on the 0% PCP but was wondering how long people think the offer's going to last for? Dealer is obviously saying could end at any minute, but we haven't had a chance to drive the petrol one yet which is what we'll be going for most likely, and are going on holiday this weekend so probably won't get a chance to until we're back (only petrol one they have is in transport mode at present).
