  1. Hi, I have a mk1 SE vRS.

Was driving down the motorway steadily when I heard a real loud bang, the Mrs screamed (first time she has in a while), and I lost all boost and had to pull over on the hard shoulder.

The car ticked over loudly for about 5 minutes before cutting out on me, after being towed home and under inspection I saw the lower intercooler pipe has popped off, swung into my serpentine belt and tore it to shreds, this is what I thought had made the car cut out as the battery wasn't getting a charge.

Anyway, charged the battery and put the pipe back on properly (forgot to mention the clip that goes around the metal end of the pipe was half way up the pipe itself), and turned it over. It doesn't start now and I've put it down to timing as it looks like the cam belt tensioner has moved from its original position.

I've heard that the tensioners can fail and cause the belt to slip, knocking the timing out as its done to me (I'm hoping).

Now, is this true? I want to make sure completely before forking out for a new cam belt kit, just to find out I've smashed a valve or something.

    Thanks in advance

Carl (on behalf of a friend)

  2. They are a good car with the last of line D3 and D4 engines in them, (basically same 5 pot 2.0litre lump with differant hp outputs)

    Altho my parents had a V50 R-design D5 and that wasn't shy,

Just a note next time you have wheels off,

drop nearside front arch liner out and unbolt take cover off engine ecu box (4x torx 30's) and drop ecu out and give it a clean and drill a couple of holes 4mm holes in bottom of box and then get some ptfe grease and spray ecu with it and refit,

all will become obvious as to why when you open ecu box

    tell me more.... im intrigued!

  3. Lovely looking car.

Bit of a random question in a project thread, but how usable is the boot on these in terms of size?

  4. Morning everyone, I thought I'd build a quick thread of my current project just to keep everyone in the loop.

Long story short... I had a MK2 fabia. I sold it a bought a Polo GTI.... And then I got bored and bought a Volvo....

    Now.....

Once again, excluding a couple it has all the main option extras; Bluetooth, heated seats, that kinda thing.

    It's a 2011 Volvo C30, it's the D3 model so it's a 2 litre/ 5 cylinder Diesel engine made by Volvo themselves. 150BHP standard and 350NM. Must admit... It shifts.

So that's how it looked before I got my hands on it.

After adding some wheels, Coilovers, tints, induction lot and straight through exhaust it's a completely different car! I'll keep this thread updated from now on! Let me know what you think!

    Thanks guys

  5. Hey guys,

Does anyone know much about prodrive? The mk1 vrs my friend just brought was apparently mapped by then but I can't find them online and any info about their maps?

Also what the box attached to the top mount on the top left of this picture?

    Thanks guys 789a104337e87fc8a551c2820e1e5700.jpgd1c89be64b7fb9117da74cf005202082.jpg

  6. Sad news.

Thanks to some idiot driving in the middle of the road on a blind corner, my alloy took an absolute battering, buckled, bent, flat spot, curb rash..... Just a complete mess and I'm pretty down about the whole thing as I was told it would never be the same again.

So it seems I'll be returning to my original wheels for the time being but not before I spruce them up abit, I'm thinking a metallic oxblood red colour way.....

Will keep you all updated as things progress..

  7. UPDATE:

I bagged myself an absolute bargain and picked up some Bilstein B14 adjustable coilovers post-109055-1407657514282_thumb.jpg

Had them fitted at AP Automotive (Thanks Ant) and she now sits like this...

Drive comfort is still pretty good and I just love how it sits. post-109055-14076578699477_thumb.jpg

On another note, I got rid of the old reg plates and went over to pressed. post-109055-14076579153067_thumb.jpgpost-109055-14076579277997_thumb.jpg
