  1. Hi Chris,

I had the same choice to make earlier this summer and I found that coming from the 1.8TSI DSG the 1.4 seemed a bit under powered. My choice was the 2.0TSI DSG and I do not regret it BUT the average long time fuel consumption went from 8 L/100 km's in the Superb to 9-10 L/100 km's, don't know what the smaller engine would have given me. The "Omph" is there though ... ;-)

    Have a nice day,

    Anders

  2. Hi, could not find where to change the name shown in the Skoda Connect portal, nor did I use only a partial last name to register the service, the name which is now shown in the infotainment system when I shut down the ignition.

Any other idea or am I missing something? :-)

    Have a nice day,

    Anders

    Hi,

I have been trying to access the links from AndersNordh but none of them work for me and I'd really like to read these and to give me more ammunition to quote to Skoda UK about my  2012 1.8 TSi Octavia Elegance Estate's 7 speed dry clutch DSG failure @ 54,000 miles after 5 years.

Can anyone help me, please ?

Hi, did you get the url's working?

    Have a nice evening.

  4. Hi again guys, it had to do with replacing the battery in the key fob. All other personal settings were used in the per key fob setup but NOT the maximum startup volume. Treble, base ... everything ... but after a re-sync of the key it worked again as supposed, very strange so after a battery change, perform a sync as well even if everything seem to work.

    Have a nice evening!

    Kindly,

    Anders

  5. Hi,

I got tired of all the expensive and still old maps being sold by VW group, instead I bought a very good Asus Zenfone 2 Android phone with 5.5" screen, installed the HERE gps app that you can run totally offline, if you like, after map download, then you are free to go. And free map updates whenever you like ...

Better than spending £220 per year or so for old maps ...

    Just my 5 pence ...

  6. Likewise I cant wait for the estate version, mine is due to be replaced November this year

Lucky you, perfect timing! I can't motivate myself, nor my bank, that I need a new car after just little over a year ... ;-) ... Still looking forward to see the Estate, guess it will be very nice since I really like the aggressive front part of the Sedan.

Not sure whether the owners manual states this or not. I actually found the best way to activate the tyre pressure monitor is to follow the following procedure.

    • Drive the car at a reasonable speed for at least 15 minutes. (Warm the tyres up to normal operating temp)
    • Pump the tyres up to specified pressure while the tyres are warm. (I normally use 35 PSI)
    • Take the car for another drive. This time sitting on a long flat straight road (Freeway or something similar)
    • Set cruise control and hold vehicle at constant speed
    • Hold Tyre pressure warning button until it 'Beeps'
    • Your accurate tyre pressures have been set.

Hi, interesting but I wouldn't say that it is the entire story since your last point starts the learning mode ...

At least for all other VW group cars with the same system without actual active sensors in each tire you set the system in learning mode when you press the TPMS button long enough to hear the "pling". The following formulas are then used to set the base line and then calculate the difference from that base line.

    tpms-formulas-2.jpg

ωLF = front left, no of ABS pulses

ωRF = front right, no of ABS pulses

ωLR = rear left, no of ABS pulsesr

ωRR = rear right, no of ABS pulses

ωa = average no of ABS pulses

β = change of no of ABS pulses, 0 when no change detected, 0.1 at 10%, 0.2 at 20% and so on ...

    In learning mode:

0-5 minutes, system detects changes >25%

5-20 minutes, system detects changes of 25%

20-120 minutes, system detects changes <25% and are fully calibrated within this time

A few things to think about though ...

    • The system gets more and more sensitive with higher speed since it measures the pulses over time and not distance, it is more likely to go off at 190 km/h at Autobahn than at 70 km/h going down an A or B road.
    • High load in the back or at one side of the car might also trigger the system.
    • If you enter learning mode with the wrong pressure in your tires this become the "good value", never mind how wrong it is.

Just my 5 ... pence maybe ... Have a nice evening!

  8. Hi,

I've read everyones posts and heres the both law and my purpose.

The Swedish law says i can have whatever lightsetup i want, asfar as i dont disturb other drivers in the traffic, so having foglights and high beam is not any issue in the law.

My purpose, is to widen the lightspectra, so i get a couple of meters wider light, so i can see down into the trench besides the road, since im living about 30km from nearest city.

I have seen that too, thats why i think it would be left in VCDS but not in MCDU..

    /Peter

    Hej Peter!

This sounds like an interesting possibility if available! I will look around for any VCDS option as soon as I can get hold of a Ross Tech cable again ... Never thought of it but now when it's being mentioned it sounds better and better, I am also living on the countryside outside Malmö ...

    Have a nice day!

  9. Hi again!

I have just now, after almost a year, decommissioned the DSG Survey since we didn't get as many users with problems reporting as I initially thought and we couldn't see any pattern in the answers either. The result is, and will be, available through my personal site for those who like to take part of what we learned.

If you like to only take part of the result, please look here for a web based version or chose the Excel file.

    Have a nice day!

  10. Out of the blue six weeks ago my local Skoda dealer said that he had an up date for my Amundsen+ on an SD card and had it delivered by hand - no cost! It is the (V4) 3T0051255D all part of the 3 year service so go out there and get yourself one! Skoda do deliver (eventually)

Hi guys, will be interesting to know how many of you that will actually get a SD card in your hands for free ... At least it didn't work in Sweden, I had to buy mine ...

Hope you all will have better luck!

  11. Hi everybody!

Just noticed that for model year 2014 no DQ200 related issues regarding clutch or mechatronic has been reported at http://dsg-survey.com/ yet ... Could be good news ... or just that nobody has told us yet? So far I have a leaking 2014 DQ200 but that is not a common issue ... The rest of the reports for 2014 are related to DQ250 issues. Let's hope that VW now finally has solved the main issues ... :-)
