  1. Ours popped off unexpectedly. Dealer refitted without charge. They are very effective in protecting door edges. We paid cash for our car so tend to be protective of our investment. Leased cars are like rented flats someonelses problem and they account for a large proportion of car ownership these days. Many will treat as their own the majority probably not.
  2. Sign of out times. Careless of other folks property.
  3. Been there, done that! Ours behaved the same way twice. First time dealer lubricated the handle innards. After a while repeat process. So far no further problem.
  4. Thanks to you all. I have been slow to pick up on your messages (other time demands). I have also responded via a post about start/stop switch replacement because I had included my sat nav issue in my post about that. I will keep strict topic separation (social distancing) in future! To answer points raised. Like you I assumed the mapping data had been corrupted in some unknown way because about these parts speed limits have not changed. I visited the official Skoda site for map updates. I followed requirements to the letter. The in car updating followed the process required and the 2020/2021 update was acknowledge by showing reference numbers etc. and detail of it's map contents. This made absolutely no difference. The speed limit readout has, if anything, become more erratic and inaccurate. It switches speed limit readouts mid route (open road) where the limit is constant. Not at all helpful. At times disconcerting. I am now thinking the Infotainment unit may be at fault, otherwise what else? The problem is presumably not general so it may be Dealers are not fully aware or know how to correct it. They do tend to wait for official notification. If it is a low incidence problem I am unsure about effective dealer feedback to HQ. I have followed another avenue by messaging Skoda Customer Support via their web site seeking a way forward. I have received neither confirmation of my message nor reply. Not exactly encouraging. I am pursuing another route via "Here" the map supplier to VAG Group and other manufacturers of that consortium. "Here" seem to encourage correction to mapping data where it is wrong. It will be interesting to know their opinion.
  5. Sorry I missed those messages. I will take a look. To reprise the Navigation speed limit readout worked without fault from new in 2018 until a couple of months ago. I surmised the map data had been corrupted in some unknown way. So I downloaded the 2020/2021 map updates from the official Skoda update site onto a recommended memory card. In turn I followed the in car Sat Nav process to update the unit. This went smoothly without a hitch. The Sat Nav acknowledged the update on the screen. This made absolutely no difference. Since then other speed limits have been wrong, switching mid route on open roads. My local dealer has been less than helpful. I have messaged Skoda via their customer support process. No acknowledgement and no reply! I am of the view the Infotainment module is the guilty party but without appropriate technical review this must remain supposition. I have visited the 'Here' website, the supplier of mapping etc for the VAG Group. I note they invite data correction from users but require photos of speed signs to accompany any reports. A somewhat tedious process for me bearing in mind the number of errors. I hope for help from Skoda because I have read of another similar case where the dealer replaced the infotainment unit under warranty. I have been told my case is not unique but not widespread so Dealer knowledge may be deficient. Persistence will hopefully resolve this annoyance.
  6. Has anyone experienced this problem? Our 18 registered petrol Kodiak DSG with all the bells and whistles has been excellent up to now. The local Speed Limit readout has become inaccurate on a number of important roads. Reading 60mph when it is 40mph. Local dealer unable to correct this fault which it said has occured on a new Karok. They did not say how that was resolved pointing out that this data is provided by third party, which I believe is "Here", the consortium of European car manufacturers Sat Nav data provider. Eager to find a solution without changing brand.
  7. Our Kodiak was serviced recently. Stop/start system was deemed to not be within the required parameters and subsequently changed. This change seems to coincide with issues with the speed limit guidance readout. Here throughout the New Forest the limit is 40mph. On several significant roads the readout shows 60mph speed limit. Similar errors occur elsewhere but is not everywhere. Dealer offers no solution despite the system working flawlessly up to now. Issue negates the value of such as system and is untrustworthy. Dealer claims similar fault on a new Karok. The solution was not explained and statements seem inconsistent.
  8. Thanks for explanation of download/SDcard process. I have made the error of not formatting the SDHC card to Fat32 standard, so Nav unit could not read it! Trying again, correctly this time I hope. My Kodiak is an 2018 delivery. This is the first update I have tried. I noticed that the speed limits symbols were very erratic showing incorrect data on known routes. Hope the update cures the problem.
  9. Even if you dislike modern tech do not be put off. After 6 Skodas ranginging from Fabia through Superb to Kodiak, it is a great vehicle. Easy entry, well furnished, comfortable ride, swallows large volume of luggage and reasonably economical. Sounds like a sales brochure but that is my experience. Local rural dealer is customer focused and helpful when needed (not often). No experience of towing. Now the tech is great, steers itself, slows down and speeds up automatically, both great when driving in Europe. Parks itself in small spaces at the press of a button and a couple of human inputs, i.e. engage reverse or forward and apply a little throttle. If you value fingers keep clear of steering wheel it moves as fast as an aeroplane propeller. What is not to like. Colour maybe?
