...although mine did not leak, (2015 L&K), I got paranoid and simply applied clear Gorrilla tape, (£10 a role and it will probably do at least 2). It lasted a good 2 years before I decided to do it again as the tape had started to lift on the edges.

NB I only put the tape from the glass to the rubber seal...ie not over the actual roof paintwork, I used seperate strips for the back, front and middle joint, and 2 stips "per side". (Makes replacing any that come lose easier).

You can then remove the fuse, but this will make the blind inoperable as well. (I did not bother but I was concerned in case somebody (wife?) forgot and tried to twiddle the knob!)

At that age and mileage it is certainly not worth spending that sort of money....also made a note to self to never buy a car with a pan / sunroof again. (Don't know why Skoda did not make a permanent "seal kit" as an option, but then again they never will admit it is a design / manufacturing issue when it clearly is....

I have decided the same thing, a sunroof is just not worth the bother. I've only opened it a few times in 9 years! And yes it's obviously a bad design and Skoda should have done something about it.

I'm going to get some Gorilla tape and give it a try. I'll probably stick it on the paintwork if it's wide enough to do that, so the rubber seals are covered.

    Thanks for your advice!

  2. Hi gurus

I've got a 2014 Yeti L&K, had it since new and it's done nearly 150k miles now and I love it. However the sunroof has sprung another leak, I had it fixed 2 years ago for about £2k and I can't spend that again, the car is probably worth about £4k. Main dealer suggests it will cost £3k to £4k to fix 😱. I'm at a loss what to do. I did have it booked in with a sunroof expert in Dorking but had to cancel and now can't get it done there until end of April, too late as I need to use it to go on holiday before that. It's sitting with a cover over it at the moment..

    So my questions are:

    - Does anyone know of a good sunroof expert, preferably in or near Reading?

    - How easy would it be to permanently seal the bloody thing?

    - Anyone want to buy a great car?

    Can anyone advise?

    Cheers

I had a similar problem, caused by water ingress into the Sharkfin unit.  I have installed a windscreen DAB antenna like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MY2JE6C

Absolutely brilliant reception and easy to install.  It requires a small amount of the primer paint on the interior of the A Pillar to be scraped away, to get a good ground.

    Very pleased with the result.

    Good luck.

Hi Chris, that sounds like a good option. I'm going to check on the 12v feed, etc, when the rain stops and if I don't get anywhere this looks like it could be the answer

  4. Thanks Austin, so it's worth me trying to look under the headlining to try and spot a dodgy connection. I have the original (Columbus?) unit and was thinking about taking it out to have a look at the connections too. Or maybe just giving up and going back to FM

  5. Hi all

Following a very expensive panaramic roof leak fix on my 2014 Yeti L&K, I now have very poor DAB reception. It was receiving all DAB channels fine when I took it to the garage and now it's feeble, so I can't listen to DAB any more. The garage won't accept responsibility as they say it could be water ingress, which is probably correct. I know there is the obvious "shark fin" aerial but I have read there's another DAB-specific aerial on the front or rear screen. Is this correct and is it something I can check and maybe replace?

    Cheers

  6. I've just had my panoramic roof repaired (2014 Yeti L&K), not by a dealer but a local garage. They ended up replacing the rubber seals, after a lot of investigation. I've always kept the drainage channels free using a length of bike hydraulic hose (perfect diameter) but it was still letting water into the footwell. It was getting grim in there so it was a case of either seal the damn thing up with Gorilla tape or spend a few hundred to get it fixed, I'd had a good look under the roof lining but couldn't get further. It ended up costing nearly £2k, and now the leak is fixed but DAB reception has pretty much gone. The garage won't accept that it's a problem so I wish I'd just bought the Gorilla tape now.

Anyhow they tell me the life of the rubber seals is about 4 years and it's a known issue on VAG sunroofs. Known by them, maybe.

    Cheers

  7. Thanks guys, I did remove that fuse as well but I'll try it again, maybe leave it while I have a nice cup of tea, as I just left it a few seconds last time.

I'm interested to know about other units if I need to replace this one, as I can see a few on the internet but I'd love to know if they are recommended.

  8. Hi all

Once again I'm asking you experts for some advice. My 2014 Yeti L&K 170 has a Columbus unit which has worked fine until recently. It has taken to working intermittently, for example this morning on my commute it worked fine all the way, but this evening it does not work. When not working it displays the "Skoda Navigation" screen and occasionally seems to reboot. But nothing else - no sound or function. Last week it did this for a while and then started working while I was driving, but twice this week it's stopped only to start working on my next journey. My phone still connects via bluetooth but I can't use it, which is obviously less than ideal.

I tried removing and then putting back the fuse under the bonnet, but that didn't work. I'm starting to think about replacing it with something better, it seems there are units with Android Auto and probably touch screens that actually work, but if anyone knows if this problem is fixable that would be better (and hopefully cheaper).

    Cheers,

    John

Thanks Muddyboots, this sounds quite likely to be the cause (after I have performed a full leaf check!). Typical it is in a difficult location, but is it visible at all?

  10. Thanks to everyone for your replies. I will check those pipes to see how excited they are though I'm far from being skilled at these things. Might be another expensive trip to the dealer to fix it :-(

  11. Hi all

My 2014 170PS L&K has developed a whistle, which doesn't vary much in pitch and is most noticeable around 2000-3000 rpm. It's a new development, I've had the car since new and it is now up to 103K miles, so my suspicion is it could be the turbo for some reason as I don't know what else might make such a noise. It's not very noisy but I certainly notice it every time I drive. I don't have a robin nesting under the bonnet, or a kettle balanced on the exhaust manifold.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers

  12. Looks like the culprit was the cheap USB 3-way socket, I will test properly tomorrow on my route to work but I enjoyed DAB all the way on a 10 mile drive last night.

This was invaluable advice, thank you all so much! It's not the first time info on this forum has saved me time and money :-)

  13. Hi,

Thanks for your responses. Urrell I don't think there is any damage to the rear screen, though I will check, but greenstripe has possibly solved this. I've been using a new 3 port USB socket to power my phone and camera, so I will rush out now and see if removing it fixes the issue. I really hope it's that simple!

    Cheers

  14. Hi all

My 2014 84k Yeti has suddenly got very poor DAB reception. Instead of being able to listen to BBC or Planet Rock on DAB with a consistently good signal I now get very patchy reception which drops out to FM - or nothing - most of the time. I'd left the car for a week while we went away and it did rain a lot. And pigeons did their best to change the paint colour too. On my return DAB had taken a turn for the worse.

I cover the same 40 miles to work each day and therefore am aware of any blank DAB spots. There's only one, which is passing Membury services on the M4 for some reason. However now it's all blank except for a few times when DAB cuts back in.

I'm assuming it will be the aerial, which I am wondering about trying to replace if I can source a new one. If anyone has any ideas on whether it is likely to be the aerial and how to replace it that would be very helpful. And also where I can get one at a reasonable price!

    Many thanks

    John

  15. Might have to contact the dealer, after all it's still in warranty, but with an intermittent problem like this I don't really have much faith that they can fix it. I'll have a look at the reset/remove fuse options but as it's working again today I don't know if that's going to help.

  16. Hi all

We had a trip to London yesterday, so to help with directions set the satnav to Shepherds Bush and set off. About 5 miles from home the satnav decided we were off the road and driving in parallel through a field, though I could have sworn it was the A329. After that it abandoned all sense of reality and insisted we were heading north, mostly across fields but occasionally up a river or flattening whole villages, so while we were actually heading east up the M40 it was showing our progress as northwards, eventually trying to persuade us we were near Flitwick rather than our actual end location of Westfield Shopping Centre.

Any ideas? The weather was shocking with lots of cloud around but it's never been a problem before, and indeed on the way home it was fine. My phone's satnav was 100% accurate. Maybe it just doesn't like London (who can blame it) but I can't put up with this sort of technical insolence, what can I do? We might really need to use it sometimes!

It has done this to a much lesser extent a few weeks ago, but it recovered. Is there a reset so I can force it to look for more satellites? Or could it be something else? The "compass" was wrong but I daresay that's part of the satnav itself.

    Cheers
