The Citigo ASG is an automated gearbox which has been used in models such as Vauxhall, smart and others - ours has just passed 120,000miles from having it new and yes you need to get used to the gearbox and how it will not crawl when you lift your foot off the brake pedal. I would suggest going for the highest specification your budget will allow We only wish it was still in production as we would order a new model today, instead we will continue with our exisitng

Following on from the 110,000miles service our Citigo ASG has now just had its 120,000mile service!!! We've tried to share our servicing experience and decided to continue with using our local hammers garage. As this was an oil service it went absolutely fine with no issues engine wise - the only issue we had noted was sticking rear brakes and on inspection and cleaning it was advised that these would need changing. So the servicing issues we have experienced in the 120k: 1- Skoda garages do not really change spark plugs when they say they do - most probably as it will cost them to replace the coil packs which appear an issue to remove 2- Rear brake shoes replaced Warranty claims 1 - radio signal lost because of the antenna failure (x2) 2 - headlight lost adjustment 3 - Seat base height adjustment lever stopped working Honestly for what was essentially a £10k citigo new they are built very well and able to take on high mileage without any issues (touch wood) - weve decided to run our until it is uneconomical to repair so maybe some more updates in the future. Following on from the 100,000miles service our citigo ASG has now just had its 110,000mile service!!! We've tried to share our servicing experience and on this occasion we decided against having it serviced by a main skoda dealer and going to our local hammers; the first time and we have an interesting story to tell. The service we went for would be the major service with spark plugs and all the filters. Being trusting to Skoda we were really surprised to get a call from hammers to be advised one of the coil packs was not budging and that they would likely need to replace it once removed. With agreement we got another call explaining that it was removed and they were querying the last time the spark plugs were changed and asked me to visit them to inspect the spark plugs which had been removed. 2 were in good order... the one with the stubborn pack ... well it had had many birthdays and was close to destruction!!! In others opinion Skoda hadn't previously changed this spark plug due to the coil pack. Very disappointing considering the citigo was supplied with the 5yr/100k warranty and it would have been an easy claim. Our Citigo ASG other than this part replacement remains faultless (i decided at 6 years old and with covid that battery change was due) since its purchase in 2014. We would like to buy a replacement Citigo ASG but of course that isn't possible and when you look at 2017/18 used options its as if they have hardly depreciated!! The decision now is to keep running it until it can give no more and share our experience which will now be provided by hammers opposed to Skoda I would be interested to know how other Citigo owners experience when the mileage is similar to ours and what to look out for? Also how do you get a non approved garage service to be updated on the skoda digital service history?

Our citigo has cover more than 100,000miles from new and we have only had excellent service from Skoda.

Following on from the 90,000miles service our citigo ASG has now just had its 100,000mile service. This maybe repetitive but our citigo remains faultless and shows no signs of wear and tear ... i understand also that the ASG gearbox has much shorter gear rations and the running gear will still wizz up to 3 figure speeds if required with ease.... I believe there is an element of truth from VAG that they admitted that the platform wasn't that profitable... to me its clear there has to be an element of over engineering when supported with regular servicing. I just struggle to see a vauxhall, ford or fiat matching the reliability and build of the Skoda Citigo. We hope that our experience of reporting the servicing will give some existing/potential citigo owners some comfort but also confirm how useful regular servicing and looking after your vehicle does reduce the risk of massive costs.

its an automated gearbox opposed to a traditional automatic he ASG is an automated manual transmission that combines excellent fuel economy with driving ease. Just like with a conventional automatic transmission, gears can be changed automatically by switching the gear lever to the drive (D) position, but it’s also possible to change gears manually by moving the gear to the “+”or “-“ positions. When the drive position is selected, the gear change timings will depend on driving style and acceleration speed. Because the ASG is a single-clutch gearbox (just like a manual gearbox), torque to the driving wheels must be interrupted during a gear change. This is most noticeable during maximum acceleration: a lighter throttle load produces a smoother shift.

our citigo over the 90,000miles has been used in the majority on east anglia B roads .... but it was also used on motorways for a solid 3 month stint where 4th gear was able to find vmax speeds. we have a local independent who was the same chaps who have undertaken all the mot’s ready to look after the citigo moving forward

As I’ve said before it does drive like lower mileage citigo... it’s absolutely great to drive... although I know many people prefer the dsg. Its comforting that in the last month that the mot tester (independent) advises how dry the citigo was for the underneath and even asked if we would consider selling it! Followed by skoda technician commenting for the mileage it’s condition is first class. Im unaware of any factory updates and there is noting on the paperwork history which can confirm this.

The Air filter was changed at this service. Its likely that this will be the last service under skoda dealer and we will be using local options who will use skoda parts.

The brake fluid change was offered, but not due for another month and at £90 I felt this was slightly too high from skoda and we will opt for a local garage to undertake. Otherwise the brake fluid has been changed by skoda inline with the manufacturer guidelines at 3rd birthday at 49,331miles

Following on from the 80,000miles service our citigo ASG has now just had its 90,000mile service just near its 5 years bday. The cost was was an agreed price of £279 for the service which included oil, filter, pollen filter and spark plugs The service provided included a taxi to cover dropping off at work and later collection back to the skoda dealership.... around 16mile round trip. Our citigo remains faultless and has been commented on by not only the MOT tester but also the Skoda technician that underneath the car is free from leaks or any distress... and that it drives like a citigo which has done 20,000miles... not 90,000! We hope that our experience of reporting the servicing will give some existing/potential citigo owners some comfort but also confirm how useful regular servicing and looking after your vehicle does reduce the risk of massive costs.

Is this specific to the citigo? As my 400bhp BMW wouldn't agree with that statement

5years or mileage - which ever is met soonest?!

this news was told to dealers in july 2018 as we tried to replace our 2014 ASG and they were not taking any factory orders :( Im sure the new emissions regulations had some impact on this and I expect they will either pre-reg the existing numbers (if they haven't already) What is interesting is in the segment, there isn't a great deal of automatic choice - yes if you go up a size the issue they you should be ok. But what if you want a supermini class car with auto box?

Following on from the 70,000miles service our citigo ASG has now just had its 80,000mile service being nearly 5 years old It took speaking to Skoda UK to get an exact change date/miles for the cambelt on the citigo ... which is 5years or 120,000miles (whichever is sooner). Our Citigo is approaching 5 years so we have decided to have it done now at 80,000miles by our choice. I'd be interested to know how many 5year old Citigo's have had the cam belt change.... even with lower miles on the odo. The cost was was an agreed price of £160 for the oil service and £340 for the cam belt change The service provided included a taxi to cover dropping off at work and later collection back to the skoda dealership.... around 16mile round trip. Our citigo remains faultless but we are disappointed we cannot order another the same as our current one.

Hi John, I leave skoda to tell me whats needed doing and when.... just keeping to the 10k intervals - there is no note of a belt being undertaken on the previous 7 invoices. Which somehow does against skoda GB recommendation of 4 years.... there were topic on here that said something like 100k+ and 8 years.

I checked with Skoda UK and they confirmed the configurator is showing 2018MY, they are now on 2019MY factory run and ASG isn't available As others has pointed out its going to be more profitable for them to use production on GTi's etc which as of last week had a 5 month (yes 22week) waiting time Also the incoming WLTP is causing some major changes to car companies line-ups as the actual emission truths may not be good for reputation... and it snot like VAG need any more focus With our ASG now at 75,000 miles since we got it new in 2014... the choices are slim for a logical replacement
