  1. ive search the net but im struggling to find any issues regards the DSG that is fitted to my 2014/15 Seat Leon 1.2 tsi 110 7 speed. Nearly all issues seem to be related to VW cars. Anyway im just going to drive it, if it goes wrong it goes wrong.
  2. The DQ200 box is not fitted to my car 2014/15 SEAT LEON 1.2 TSI 110. (I KNOW ITS NOT SKODA BUT I SOLD MY OCTY THE OTHER DAY) don't know what code but its a 7 speed dry clutch, also car is from AC. My info came from long serving Seat and VW mechanics.
  3. ive spoken to vw and seat mechanics who have had many years working on these car and they said they haven't had any issues with this particular box. The earlier boxes yes but not the modern ones. Its like any car, if you abuse it will break in the end. But I understand the 7 speed is a robust unit especially fitted to a 1.2 . Ive bought one now so no going back. fingers crossed I have many years of happy motoring.
  4. 2014 registered in 2015 1.2 tsi 110 with 7 speed dry clutch DSG. Been well informed that these boxes are great to drive and have had no issues. Any gear box manual or auto can fail if they are abused.
  5. I'm looking at buying a 2014 rapid 1.2 tsi fitted with a DSG box, 20000 miles. Are these boxes REALLY any good in terms of reliability and longevity. Ive heard about them being very problematic especially the early ones. Also they can be hesitant if you want to exploit a gap in the traffic. Have the later boxes with these issues been fixed, I cant seem to find a definite answer. please advise. Regards
  6. Hi I havent post anything for a few years as ive never had a problem with my car. Over the past five weeks my car octavia 1.6 tdi 104000 miles has been losing power intermittantly. I only get the glow plug light flashing on dash and not the engine light. My code reader indicates fault code p0101 everytime glow plug light comes on. Local garage says its the turbo waste actuater. So i replaced it and problem still persisted so i replaced the MAF sensor as my code reader indicated but problem still persists. Could the egr be at fault? As i know these can be problematic and pricey car is not a town car and gets plenty of motorway miles. Any advice would be appreciated.
  7. when should I renew the timing belt on m 59 reg Octavia 1.6 tdi cr, 45000 miles. it does not mention it in the drivers manual and there seems to be confusion on web sites with regard to the mileage/age as to when the belt should be renewed. ??
  8. I will do, its going to get a good blitzing tomoz. probably spend 2 days on it, going way over the top on preserving it. its gonna be mint classic when ive finished with it.
  9. got it today. you would think its been driven out of the show room, its still got the vinyl protective film on the sills. gear changes are seamless, steering feels brand new. engine as quiet as a mouse, paint/body work like brand new, its still has that new car smell. Fingers crossed it wont give any problems for the next 4-5 years. Well Happy
  10. buy yourself a Haynes manual for £14 or a cd manual off ebay for £4, either way it will pay for itself the first time use it. You will then probably tackle other jobs that will think you couldn't do.
  11. Hi I have the chance to purchase a 1998 s reg 300 td elegance with 44000 genuine miles on the clock, a full merc history and all MOTs, no advisories ever reported(was recently serviced and MOT d)expense was never spared. The car is in show room condition and was garaged when not in use. My concern is the age of the car and not the mileage, will the gaskets, seals, suspension, rubbers, bushes likely to deteriorate/perish more quickly because of the age and as the car will get used daily and see alot more motorway criusing. I have been told it drives like brand new. Your thoughts. Regards
  12. I ignore the gear change symbol, just listen to the engine it will tell you when its wants to change gear.
  13. not sure about your car having a DMF but the vibration under heavy load could also be a sigh of the drive shaft inner joint or intermediate bearing. Get under car and have a good feel/push/shove at the shafts and see if there is any excessive play. its difficult to say without actually feeling it myself. A good mechanic will tell you.
  14. anyone can run a diesel, as long as you give it a good run and push the it through the gears every so often, all should be well. Ive been running diesels for the past 10 years and never experienced any problems ie around the town and school runs. Remember!! if you just do short stop/start journeys all the time you may experience problems.
  15. mine does the same (octy 1.6 tdi cr), contacted Skoda and had a good chat to the service manager and he reassured me that it is a normal engine operation. It is the DPF cleaning its self, just ensure that you give it a good run on motorway once a week to get the engine hot so that it can burn off the soot particles.
