  1. XDS has never been changed so still on the factory setting. I like the way the car turns in as it is with very minimal understeer. However I do have a big problem with smoking up the tyres when exiting the corners. So a torsen limited slip differential and kevlar clutch kit is a must do before any more power is considered. With luck that may happen next year.
  2. By all means S27 VEJ your vehicle is not at a disadvantage just because it has a DSG gearbox. From my experience the only vehicles in my class that has had better reaction times then myself in hillclimbs is a old school beetle with a 2000cc plus motor sitting on top of the rear axle in my state series class. Yes I would be beaten by the odd Honda Civic or CRX that has a stripped out interior and a oversized Mugen block (2.4l or 2.0l racing motor) over a 2.0 km course. But as a daily the Fabia vRS would always come out on top as everything in my car still works. As a suggestion. Put more money into buying better suspension first. The bilstien shocks with eibach spring are awesome together but go to Bilstien coilovers if you need to build something special.
  3. Thanks for the bump I guess...lol. Yes I am still around (although not as much as before). I still have the might wagon/estate however it has not seen the track this year after 2 straight state hillclimb class titles. At present I can confirm that the motor is sitting at around 53000 kms with no real issues (3/4 of those kilometres running a stage 2 APR tune). On a different note I can also confirm that a full size refrigerator will fit in the back with back seats down and bottom cushions removed as I did this just last week. Depending on how things pan out in the future there may be more to come in a year or so once I address a few other life projects. In short still a very happy vRS owner.
  4. At best the supercharger is only useful in first gear for launching without launch control. Once the car is moving at maximum revs in 1st gear the supercharger has almost not involved unless the revs drop below 3500 rpm and you shift down in time. Think old school. Make sure the heads can flow the power you want before you force them to do something they can't.
  5. Even if you don't track your car I would highly recommend the Federal RSR's 215/40R17's. Firstly the price is great and secondly they work well in the dry and the wet. Then as a bonus they are not too bad on the track.
  6. Go the GFB DV+. Had mine for over 2 years and no problems. Been inside the factory and meet the staff. Everything there is top notch. P.S. Disclaimer...My work is now just around the corner from the GFB factory....hahahaha. P.P.S... Sorry guys...but I have to say this... I have no Forge parts on my car for a good reason.
  7. G'day Stefan I have had my CAVE on a dyno once before and It was putting out 132kw (178hp) at the wheels. So I think the Torque App figure is not too far off on its estimate. At the flywheel I am guessing about 220hp. However the general view from most people /posts on the forums is that the CTHE motor puts out more power then the CAVE's stock. So from what I have seen 191hp at the flywheel for a CTHE is about right. As there is not much info about tuned CTHE's from anywhere in the world I would say for now that a tuned CAVE and tuned CTHE put out similar power. I know a little bit about the basics for the German TÜV which basically means all of your mods need to be government approved. Previously I had Audi A1 factory wheels (17x7.5) on my car with 215/40R17 tyres which are the same size as the factory spec VW Polo GTI and Audi A1 TFSI. At this point we can talk about why but the main point is that you are only going up one size and the other VAG cars with the same chassis come stock with 215/40R17's. Forgot to mention that when you are launching to use Sports mode as it well make at bigger difference off the line as you are starting from 1100rpm instead of 900rpm. From my experience doing hillclimbs my launches are a match for any other car in my class, Regards Mat
  8. G'day Stefan Glad to see you are enjoying your Fabia. Here are the Torque App results from my stage 2 CAVE during a 1000m runway event last year. In general I do think the car could good a bit faster then this if 2 simple things changed. Firstly the road was a rural airway which had almost no grip and we could not do burn outs to warm up the tyres. Secondly after running 235/40R17 tyres for over a year now I think the extra rotating mass weight is slowing me do at the top end. The 235/40R17's are 2kg each heavier then my old 215/40R17's. So going back to 215/40R17's for next set on the 17x8 wheels. For your speed runs I suggest using traction control for your launch and then turn it off after you get off the line so that it doesn't cut the power when you are shifting into 2nd and 3rd.
  9. Interesting to note here in Oz at least that a second hand Mk.2 vRS Fabia is still worth more then second hand Mk.3's and almost on par with a new Mk.3 base car price.
  10. Compared to the average Mk.3's 1.2 motor. The 1.4 CTHD from the Jetta or Tiguan is a major upgrade. With only 118Kw and 240Nm in a MK.3 it would still be a quick little car even without tuning.
  11. Forgot about the Beetle as they stopped selling them a few months ago here. I though about modding one of them but the starting weight was too high. The racing I do here in Oz puts me in a under 2500cc or 2000cc to 3000cc class with the twincharger. The Fabia II vRS estate is a really well balance car and with a stage 2 tune it pulls hard enough. I just really like the look of the mk. IIII estate and want it to have the same power. The fact that the MK.III is over 100kg lighter, sits lower to the ground and is wider just screams race car to me....lol.
  12. Hi all Doing some long term crystal ball thinking and just wondering what VW twincharger motor (current Tiguan or Jetta here in Oz) would be compatible wiring and canbus wise to retro fit into a Fabia Mk.III? I know there is no problems fitting the motor and DSG gearbox but just want to know which version of the twincharger is the most compatible for the latest Fabia? PS... Sorry Skoda but if you are not going to to build a RS version then I will.

  14. I am running a lightweight racing battery so it might have something to do with the battery charge in winter here now. Funny thing is it does not ghost on every start. Interesting thanks for the input.
  15. Strange one here guys. Lately when I start my car the rear window wiper operates for one sweep while the car is still in park. Just wondering if anyone has heard about this before?
