  1. Hello there, wondering if anyone can help me on this. I am collecting a used (but new to me) 2016 Superb MkIII tomorrow. From looking at previous posts on here I think it is an Amundsen system because one of the pictures on the ad on the dealer website showed the "jukebox" option in the source selection menu. Do I need when I collect to make sure that I get an official Skoda SD card with the vehicle so I can update it to update the maps? So I can check will the SD card already be in an SD card slot in the glove compartment area of the car? Thanks for any help!!!
  2. Especially not when the app itself gets very bad google play reviews for compatibility and stability of connection.
  3. If it does the same things as smart link but just wirelessly then I doubt it is worth it for £400!!!!
  4. I have exactly this product for my VRS, works fine and holds a big Samsung tablet OK, although you gave to be quite firm when you put it on because the slightly triangular shape of the headrest makes it want to ride up. The trick is to offset the velcro slightly at the front when you do it up (however this leaves some of the hooks exposed, so if you happen to have quite a tall wife with very curly hair be careful if she's your passenger on long drive tell her to be careful when she gets out.....)
  5. Hi All, I am in the process of ordering to replace my 63 plate VRS with a new 2017 facelift model (it's still just the best value car that does what I want and need by a country mile!) My question is this, my old car didn't have satnav, but the 2017 facelift has Amudsen as standard. From what I can work out the system also works with Smartlink/Android Auto etc. The options list includes a fairly pricy 3 year subscription to Skoda Connect (the app has awful reviews on Googel Play). Whilst I have no desire to see how much fuel is in the tank from my phone, or honk the horn remotely when the car is on the drive to scare the neighbours cat, I would like to have live traffic functionality and map updates on the Amudsen sat nav. Is it worth paying the £3-400 odd for this or are there other ways of getting map updates (via download sites and SD cards for instance) and traffic updates (via Android Auto etc)? The received wisdom is as ever appreciated....
  6. I got my VRS diesel almost exactly the same time as baz555 and I'm shopping for new fronts with a little over 12k on the clock as mine are just about on the bar! Im tempted by the Continental CS5 to keep the same brands (mine came with Conti CS2) and they are on at Kwik Fit very close to me for £108.50 ea. I would hope to get a few more miles on this set as I was undertandably a little enthusiastic in my driving when I first got the car..... If anyone can recommend anything almost solely on the basis of being long wearing I'd be grateful!
  7. Yep my vrs hatch has one in the boot. To run my sons screen I have an extension cord which comes from the boot and through the rear seats (wire narrow enough) into the back. Created no more trailing cable than when it was plugged into a socket in the rear ashtray/cubby on my old car. Mounting the screen on the back of the vrs seat headrest though is not easy.....
  8. Damn shame this is only at thruxton which is way too far for me to go otherwise I'd do it for sure.
  9. Just don't give it the full beans for first 1000km. This is from the manual (in it's unique broken english) The engine has to be run in during the first 1500 kilometres. Up to 1000 kilometres › Do not drive faster than 3/4 of the maximum speed permissible for the engaged gear. › No full throttle. › Avoid high engine speeds. › Do not tow a trailer. From 1000 up to 1500 kilometres Gradually increase the speed until you reach the full speed of the engaged gear. The red scale of the rev counter indicates the range in which the system begins to limit the engine speed. During the first operating hours the engine has higher internal friction than later until all of the moving parts have harmonized. The driving style which you adopt during the first approx.1500 kilometres plays a decisive part in the success of run- ning in your car. Never drive at unnecessarily high engine speeds, even after the running-in period is complete. On vehicles fitted with a manual gearbox, at the very latest shift up into the next gear when the red area is reached. Very high engine speeds when accelerating (accelerator) are automatically restricted » . With vehicles with a manual gearbox, do not drive at unnecessarily low engine speeds. Shift down a gear when the engine is no longer running smoothly. Ob- serve the recommended gear
  10. I've got a manual hatch and I get about 400-450 depending what I'm doing
  11. Chuffed I ordered my VRS in November 0% pcp free servicing and I got my car in 12 weeks from order.
  12. Quite often if files have been through iTunes and other media players they have more than one embedded file and this seems to confuse bolero. The jpeg for the cover art doesn't need to be embedded it just needs to be in the same folder that the mp3s for the album are in. I use a great free program called mp3tag which let me remove all the embedded jpegs en masse on the whole library. It also has an one click tool to loom up album art for each album in no more than 500x500 and autosave it in the relevant folder. It didn't take me long to do this on the SD card I use in the car and it all works fine
  13. You can, because I did! It was £30 on my vrs tdi hatch. I have heated washers but not seats or screen.
  14. If you've ordered just heated washers without the winter pack/heated screen I don't think they come on automatically they only come on when you turn on the heated mirrors with the switch on the mirror adjusters on the drivers door
  15. I have to agree the cruise control on my old mondeo with buttons on the steering wheel was much easier and more intuitive than the stalk mounted control on my vrs
